It’s official.
I, Ainsley James, am crazy.
Desperate and crazy.
It’s the only explanation as to why I’m nauseous, standing outside Maverick Lexington’s door.
I mean, it’s possible the stories about his deck of playing cards—with the words IOU scrawled across the back—are just rumors of the ruthless quid pro quo deals he barters.
But the flutters in my stomach know better.
Maverick is as cold as they come.
But, I need one of those cards.
I NEED to owe Maverick Lexington a favor…
Whatever the terms, I’m willing to pay.
Because, at this point, I have nothing left to lose.
Review: I absolutely loved this book it was funny , sweet and cute. So this is about Ainsley she catches her boyfriend and roommate sleeping together and ended up throwing a candle which causes the fire department to be called which starts a caring friendship with a firefighter Ainsley calls boss. Then there is Maverick who is a known legend on campus for having deals or known IOUS .While working at her job Ainsley gets pissed at Maverick even though she didn’t know it was him she had no apartment and was crashing at the firehouse he told her his food was cold and to heat it up and she ended up spilling the food on his lap. Then she hears about Maverick and she makes a deal with him and she has to stay with him . There they start a friendship kinda with underlying sexual tension. They start to get closer in a way she calls him on his shit . Then something happens with Maverick and she brings him to the hospital he has a heart issue. They both start caring for each other deeper and they start fooling around and they love each other but haven’t said it yet . But then Tucker the asshole he is tells Ainsley that he made a deal with Maverick to get Taylor famous which he did just not in the way she wanted . Ainsley goes to the fire department see the firefighter Boss knew Maverick cause before he met Ainsley Maverick had another heart issue and Boss was the one to show up so he had Maverick have Ainsley stay with him but he didn’t expect to fall for her .A few years pass and Ainsley is working with the sea lions and Maverick is a Ceo . Maverick proposes to Ainsley and Ainsley has a surprise for him she’s pregnant aww so cute I loved it .

I assumed she heeded my warning. Evidently, not. “Where?” He doesn’t look at me. “On the sidewalk. Her feet are propped up on the hood of your car, and I’m pretty sure she’s chugging wine from a box.” I’m going to kill her.
I just noticed your back pocket looked a little thin this afternoon.” All right, fine. I was looking at his ass. It’s quite the firm masterpiece. Round and curved up into the perfect half-moon. Sue me. A girl can look.
“I think you keep these scary rumors going on around you, so no one will find out you’re really a water drinking trivia nerd.” See? Observant little thing. “Are you making fun of me for being smart?”
I’ll take the fact that you do actually have a heart to the grave,” I return, crossing my heart.
When he’s finally in and settled, I speed off to the nearest hospital, trying to ignore his shitty remarks. “I would have been better off dying in the apartment. At least then, my family would have a body to bury. The way you’re driving, and your history with fire, we’re sure to end up a pile of ash.”
What I wanted was ice cream and dick with a side of mac and cheese. So here we are.
Ainsley James is mine and there’s no way I’ll ever let her go.
