Book Review: Dumplin Julie Murphy

Dumplin' (Dumplin' #1)Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

october 24-26
Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked…until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.

With starry Texas nights, red candy suckers, Dolly Parton songs, and a wildly unforgettable heroine—Dumplin’ is guaranteed to steal your heart.

Review : I really wanted to like this book it was okay but I had some problems with it , Will’s mom she is so judgmental of her daughters weight I get being concerned but there is a way to do it . Will is a bigger girl and she likes this guy name Bo and they dated for like a summer and then she broke up with him and she decided to do this beauty queen thing and she yells at her friend and they have this stupid long ass fight which I didn’t see a point for . Now I want to point out I didn’t hate this book but I just didn’t like it . Will and Bo start talking and there moments were really sweet .

Siege and Storm is the second book in The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. Alina gets the second amplifier Stumhold helps Alina and Mal escape the darkling . But the darkling is back and a lot of people die but she agrees to go with him and she tries to kill him but she almost dies but she doesn’t I love this series and writing is very magical .
Quotes :
Watch yourself, Nikolai,” Mal said softly. “Princes bleed just like other men.”
Nikolai plucked an invisible piece of dust from his sleeve. “Yes,” he said. “They just do it in better clothes.”

The less you say, the more weight your words will carry.”

“Of course not,” said Sturmhond. “Anything worth doing always starts as a bad idea.”

I took a breath. “Your highness—”
“Nikolai,” he corrected. “But I’ve also been known to answer to ‘sweetheart’ or ‘handsome.

“I have loved you all my life, Mal,” I whispered through my tears. “There is no end to our story.”

And there’s no way I’m leaving you alone with Prince Perfect.”
“So you don’t trust me to resist his charms?”
“I don’t even trust myself. I’ve never seen anyone work a crowd the way he does. I’m pretty sure the rocks and trees are getting ready to swear fealty to him.”

“You heard Prince Perfect,” Mal said, and joined us at the table. Nikolai grinned. “I’ve had a lot of nicknames, but that one is easily the most accurate.

Mal snickered.
“What’s so funny?”
“I just pictured the Darkling being cornered by a sweaty duchess trying to have her way with him.”

“Promise not to kick me again, and I’ll promise not to kiss you again,” he said.
“I only kicked you because you kissed me!

“Scars made good reminders.”

You just punched a prince, Alina. I guess we can add one more act of treason to our list.”
I shook out my sore hand. My knuckles smarted. “First of all, are we so sure he really is a prince? And second, you’re just jealous.”
“Of course I’m jealous. I thought I was going to get to punch him. That isn’t the point.

So what did Jes say?’ I asked again, when my brain felt a bit less scrambled.
‘He said I should take good care of you.’
‘That’s all?’
Mal cleared his throat. ‘And . . . he said he would pray to the God of Work to heal your affliction.’
‘My what?’
‘I many have told him that you have a goiter.’
I stumbled. ‘I beg your pardon?’
‘Well, I had to explain why you were always clinging to that scarf.’
I dropped my hand. I’d been doing it again without even realizing.
‘So you told him I had a goiter?’ I whispered incredulously.
‘I had to say something. And it makes you quite a tragic figure. Pretty girl, giant growth, you know.’
I punched him hard in the arm.
‘Ow! Hey, in some countries, goiters are considered very fashionable.’
‘Do they like eunuchs, too? Because I can arrange that.’
‘So bloodthirsty!’
‘My goiter makes me cranky.”

Book Review: Paper princess Erin Watt

Paper Princess (The Royals, #1)Paper Princess by Erin Watt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

September 14- 19

From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.

These Royals will ruin you…

Ella Harper is a survivor—a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.

Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.

Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.

He might be right.

Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.

Review : I really enjoyed this book it was a good book Ella has lost her mom and is stripping until a man comes to her saying he’s her guardian . He brings her to his home to live with his sons and they all don’t get along Reed thinks that Ella is sleeping with his dad and wants something out of this situation and she does she wants to graduate and go to college . Her and Easton start to get along a little bit and end up getting a bit drunk and kiss she really wants Reed but they are very cat and mouse . I really like Ella’s relationship with her friend val they are good for each other . Ella wants a truce with all the royals peace in the house and Reed agrees . Ella goes out with this guy who is a fucking piece of garbage he drugs her and all the Royals stand up for her and the next day they get back at him it was awesome . Ella and Reed start to get hot and heavy at times Reed tells Ella he’s bad for her but she doesn’t care she wants him . Ella’s birth father gives most of her money and company to her and his wife isn’t to happy I feel bad Ella didn’t get to know her dad but it seems he would of loved Ella and then something nuts happens Brooke who is the father’s ex girlfriend is in Reed’s room WHAT THE FUCK and Ella runs away .

Quotes:
You may have lost your family, but you’re not alone anymore, Ella. You’re a Royal now.”

The Royal boys are not what I expected. They don’t look like rich pricks in preppy clothes. They look like terrifying thugs who can snap me like a twig.

“I’m not decent.” “Like I give a shit. You’ve got five seconds and then I’m coming in.”

So what happened? Bump your head on the dashboard when you were blowing your brother last night?” He laughs, then glances at the doorway behind me. “Hear that, Reed? Our new sister thinks I blew you last night.”

“Little sis, I can’t show you my goods. I’m so fine, just the sight of me would ruin you for all other men.”

Sawyer reaches out his hand, tucks a strand of red hair behind her ear and— Oh my God. That’s not Sawyer. My jaw falls open. The nasty burn on his hand, the one he got earlier this week when he’d bungled dinner, is gone. But it had been there yesterday—I remember seeing it. Which means the guy with Sawyer’s girlfriend isn’t Sawyer. It’s Sebastian.

Relax, little Royals. Play all the creepy sex games you want. My lips are sealed.”

My brother’s a good lay.” His eyes gleam. “But he’s not as good as me.”

Oh my God. Was that a laugh? Reed Royal laughs, folks. Someone call the Vatican because an honest-to-God miracle has occurred.”

I didn’t know Steve. He didn’t know me. But as I sit here battling my shock, I suddenly realize that he loved me. Or at least, he’d wanted to love me. And my heart aches that I never got the chance to love him back.

And there is nowhere better to see and be seen than the glamorous Hotel Dumort, a glittering new addition to the Manhattan landscape. But a different type of glamour may be at play…

Review : This one wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it set in the 1920’s was interesting when Liquor was illegal and Magnus run’s a speakeasy and there is this very old vampire who wants to go to the demon relm and he ends up killing humans and Camille sent a vampire to talk Magnus to get out of NYC it was a good story .

Book Review: The midnight heir Cassandra Clare

The Midnight Heir (The Bane Chronicles #4)The Midnight Heir by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 29-29
Magnus thought he would never return to London, but he is lured by a handsome offer from Tatiana Blackthorn, whose plans—involving her beautiful young ward—are far more sinister than Magnus even suspects. In London at the turn of the century, Magnus finds old friends, and meets a very surprising young man . . . the sixteen-year-old James Herondale.

Review : This one has been my favorite one so far Magnus meets James Herondale . Will and tessa’s son and hes a rough one he believes he is damned and we got to see Jem, Tessa and will all together and James thinking he’s king of the ducks ha . And then we have the lightwoods crazy sister who wants Magnus to kill five shadowhunters wtf but I loved this story .

Quotes : “Do stop flirting with my husband,” said Tessa.
“I shall not,” Magnus declared, “but I will pause briefly so that I may catch up on your news.”

“Then I lost him for a brief period of time, and by the time I caught up with him, he had wandered into Hyde Park, waded into the Serpetine, spread his arms wide, and was shouting, ‘Ducks, embrace me as your king

“Let me say to you what I said once, in an entirely different context to Catherine the Great,” Magnus declared. “My dear lady, you cannot afford me,and also, please leave that horse alone. Good night.”

The boy’s eyes went to him, and a shock passed through Magnus. They were not Will’s eyes, the eyes Magnus remembered being as blue as a night sky in Hell, eyes Magnus has seen both despairing and tender.
This boy has shining golden eyes, like crystal glass filled brimful with crisp white wine and held up to catch the light of a blazing sun. If his skin was luminous, his eyes were radiant. Magnus could not imagine these eyes as tender. The boy was very, very lovely, but his was a beauty like that of Helen of Troy might have had once, disaster written in every line. The light of his beauty made Magnus think of cities burning

Book Review: vampires, scones and Edmund Herondale Cassandra Clare

Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale (The Bane Chronicles, #3)Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 28- 29

When immortal warlock Magnus Bane attends preliminary peace talks between the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders in Victorian London, he is charmed by two very different people: the vampire Camille Belcourt and the young Shadowhunter, Edmund Herondale. Will winning hearts mean choosing sides?

Review : I loved this short story we Meet Edmund Herondale Will’s father and we get to see him and his wife meet which was very sweet and then they get engaged and Edmund has to leave the shadowhunter world and Magnus was very fond of him I really love the Herondale men .

Quotes

“I shall never eat duck again. I cannot believe I used to like duck. The duck betrayed me.

Excuse me, Bane?” said Roderick Morgenstern. “Are you attending?”
“I’m so sorry,” Magnus said politely. “Somebody incredibly attractive just came into the room, and I ceased to pay attention to a word you were saying.

“Years later Magnus would return to London and Camille Belcourt’s side, and find it not all that he had dreamed. Years later another desperate Herondale boy with blue, blue eyes would come to his door, shaking with the cold of the rain and his own wretchedness, and this one Magnus would be able to help.”

“Flirting? We were merely indulging in a little risqué conversation,” Magnus said, offended.
“When I begin to flirt, I assure you the entire room will know. My flirtations cause sensations.

No fewer than four of my esteemed elders told me I was on no account to ever converse with you, so I vowed that I would know you. My name is Edmund Herondale. May I ask your name? They reffered to you only as ‘that disgraceful one-warlock show.”

Book Review: The runaway queen Cassandra Clare

The Runaway Queen (The Bane Chronicles, #2)The Runaway Queen by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

June 28-28

Magnus Bane has a royal role in the French Revolution—if the angry mobs don’t spoil his spells. One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles.

While in France, immortal warlock Magnus Bane finds himself attempting to rescue the royal family from the horrors of the French Revolution—after being roped into this mess by a most attractive count. Naturally, the daring escape calls for invisible air balloons…

Review : This one was an interesting story a bit slow but I enjoyed it . Magnus is hired by a guy named Axel to protect the queen until some vampires want her so Mangnus gets her onto a balloon and somehow Magnus gets a pet monkey .

“Hello,” Magnus said to the monkey. The monkey did not reply. “I shall call you Ragnor.”

I’ll need you to get a leash for my monkey, Claude, and also a hat.”
“Of course, monsieur”
“Do you think he needs a little coat as well?”
“Perhaps not in this weather, monsieur.”
“You are right,” Magnus said with a sight. “Make it a simple dressing gown, just like mine.”
“Which one, monsieur?”
“The one in rose and silver.”
“Excellent choice, monsieur.”

“There was no way possible [the queen] could have done all of the things the pamphleteers claimed. The crimes were too gross, too immoral and far too physically challenging. Magnus himself had never attempted half of them.”

“If one could look this fabulous, one had an obligation to.”

Book Review: what really happened in Peru Cassandra Clare

What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles, #1)What Really Happened in Peru by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 27-28

Fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices know that Magnus Bane is banned from Peru—and now they can find out why.

One of ten adventures in The Bane Chronicles.

There are good reasons Peru is off-limits to Magnus Bane. Follow Magnus’s Peruvian escapades as he drags his fellow warlocks Ragnor Fell and Catarina Loss into trouble, learns several instruments (which he plays shockingly), dances (which he does shockingly), and disgraces his host nation by doing something unspeakable to the Nazca Lines.

Review : I loved this short story about Magnus it was a very funny story about how Magnus gets banned from Peru. Magnus meets a man and learns to play an instrument which he’s very bad at playing so bad people throw things at him but then he gets dumped and gets really drunk and meets a woman who steals from the rich it was a fun story.
Quotes :
“Magnus, you were trying to flirt with your own plate.”

“I’m a very open-minded sort of fellow!”

You told us to leave you in the desert, because you planned to start a new life as cactus,” Catarina said, her voice flat. “Then you conjured up tiny needles and threw them at us. With pinpoint accuracy.”

Picture this,” said Magnus. “Me with a little monkey friend. I could teach him tricks. I could dress him in a cunning jacket. He could look just like me! But more monkey-shaped.”

Magnus had a list of favored traits in a partner-black hair, blue eyes, honest…”

Magnus was sure that the llama stampede he witnessed was a coincidence. The llamas could not be judging him

Book Review : Talking as fast as I can Lauren Graham

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between)Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls by Lauren Graham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 26-27

In her first work of nonfiction, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood recounts her experiences on Gilmore Girls – the first and second times – and shares stories about life, love, and working in Hollywood. This collection of essays is written in the intimate, hilarious, and down-to-earth voice that made her novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, a New York Times best seller.
“This book contains some stories from my life: the awkward growing up years, the confusing dating years, the fulfilling working years, and what it was like to be asked to play one of my favorite characters again. You probably think I’m talking about my incredible achievement as Dolly in Hello, Dolly! as a Langley High School junior, a performance my dad called ‘you’re so much taller than the other kids.’ But no! I’m talking about Lorelai Gilmore, who, back in 2008, I wasn’t sure I’d ever see again. Also included: tales of living on a houseboat, meeting guys at awards shows, and that time I was asked to be a butt model. A hint: all three made me seasick.

Review : I loved this audio cause I’m a big gilmore girls fan I love Lauren’s writing and her audiobook was awesome I loved hearing about her and her getting onto Gilmore girls and her stories in acting and her family life . And it was interesting to hear about her life and I loved when she talked about Gilmore girls a year in the life I cried I highly recommend this book .

Quotes:
But life doesn’t often spell things out for you or give you what you want exactly when you want it, otherwise it wouldn’t be called life, it would be called vending machine.

“Because who wants to Fast Forward anyway? You might miss some of the good parts

Book Review: US Elle Kennedy

Us (Him, #2)Us by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 16-18

Can your favorite hockey players finish their first season together undefeated?

Five months in, NHL forward Ryan Wesley is having a record-breaking rookie season. He’s living his dream of playing pro hockey and coming home every night to the man he loves—Jamie Canning, his longtime best friend turned boyfriend. There’s just one problem: the most important relationship of his life is one he needs to keep hidden, or else face a media storm that will eclipse his success on the ice.

Jamie loves Wes. He really, truly does. But hiding sucks. It’s not the life Jamie envisioned for himself, and the strain of keeping their secret is taking its toll. It doesn’t help that his new job isn’t going as smoothly as he’d hoped, but he knows he can power through it as long as he has Wes. At least apartment 10B is their retreat, where they can always be themselves.

Or can they?

When Wes’s nosiest teammate moves in upstairs, the threads of their carefully woven lie begin to unravel. With the outside world determined to take its best shot at them, can Wes and Jamie develop major-league relationship skills on the fly?

Review : I loved this series it was cute and sexy Wes is starting being a hockey player as a rookie so him and Jamie have to hide there Relationship but Jamie is unhappy with it and Wes’s teammate blake moves in next door I love Blake he’s loud and funny . I love Wes and Jamie’s relationship they love each other . Jamie loves his Job except one bigoted guy . Then Jamie gets really sick and Wes and Jamie’s relationship is out and Jamie is depressed and Jamie and Wes are barley speaking and Jamie is sick of being babied and doesn’t want anyone’s help and he ends up going to California to spend time with his family and Wes is worried and he does an interview and the interviewer asks if he wants to get married and Wes said he would marry Jamie any day. And Jamie goes to Wes and he proposes I’m so happy for them and they I loved these books .

Quotes : I brought you a cappuccino.” “You make it difficult to hate you,” I mumble into the pillow. “That’s what everyone says.”

I care more that they want to charge me eight hundred bucks. So I wrote an email to both travel and PR telling them to bill Blake because his fat ass broke it. And you’ll never guess what they said.” He snickers. “The clubhouse will pay for it because they don’t want the hotel to have a record of a third dude in that room. You and I are fine by the PR department. But gossip of a threesome is more than they can handle.”

One by one, even after the main courses arrive, every single player leaves the room, returning in The Shirt. I keep drinking, getting happier and sloppier with every sip of wine. They even got one for Jamie. He’s the last to leave and return wearing citrusy green and a big smile. “Now we need the picture,” he says. “I’ve asked the waiter to take it.” And that’s how Canning and I came to have a big framed photo on our living room wall featuring the entire Toronto team dressed in very loud gingham. I swear the color rendered a little bolder in print than it looks in real life, because this photo is kind of blinding. But Jamie snickers whenever I suggest that. But there we are, two dozen grins stained red from the wine, waving at the camera like idiots. Blake is in the back row, his napkin tied around his head like a bandana. I have a hand on Jamie’s shoulder right in the center of the shot.

And I look…centered. It’s not a word I’ve ever used to describe myself before. But everything I ever wanted is in that photo—the man of my dreams, and my teammates. I’ve left my smug smile behind in favor of one that’s so shiny I hardly recognize myself. But it’s me up there for sure. It’s us. And it’s perfect.

The way I feel about Ryan Wesley…it’s something I thought existed only in the movies. He’s my other half. We complement each other in more ways than I can count. When he’s in the same room, I’m focused on him, and when he’s gone I walk around missing him. There’s an old quote my mother once painted on a ceramic platter. Love is friendship set on fire. I get it now.

get the feeling that Blake Riley could carry on an entire conversation with himself.

“I miss the tongue ring,” I tell him breathlessly. He’d taken out the piercing at the start of the season. I guess the team didn’t think it was safe. “Don’t you worry,” Wes teases. “I can still rock your world without it.”

Lucky? I’m about ten seconds from committing a murder. Except I know that giant body wouldn’t fit into the hallway chute

are we talking literal place? Are you at an S&M club right now? Did you join the circus?” I roll my eyes. “Yes, Jessica, we joined the circus. Wes trains seals and I ride the bears. We bunk with the bearded lady and the guy who swallows swords.” “Is that a gay euphemism? Swallowing swords?”

“Probably shouldna opened all those drawers,” Blake carries on, rubbing his chin. “Ya can’t unsee some of those toys. But everybody has to have his own kinda fun.

“I have a sex look?” I ask instead. “Yeah. Your eyes go a little out of focus, and your tongue hangs out a little.” I snort into his armpit. “Sounds sexy.”

It’s Jamie. I’d marry him in a hot second, and I’m sure he knows it.”

We are children. Overgrown, testosterone-filled children.

“Ring,” I croak. “You…I…” My mouth is like sandpaper. “In that interview, you said you wanted…” Deep breaths. “To get married some day. And I think that’s something we should do.”

we decide we want to have kids someday, there are ways for us to do that, babe. Adoption. Surrogates.” I lightly pinch his ass. “Stop acting like you’re dooming me to a life of childless misery.”

Quote :
Ah, hockey players. You really can’t take us anywhere.

little as my gaze locks onto a sandy-blond head. I only need the oblique view I’ve got to recognize the shape of his smile. Fuck me. Jamie Canning is staying at this hotel.

I’m staring at a pair of white boxers with bright orange kittens all over them, including an ill-placed tabby right at the crotch. When I hold them up by the waistband, another card flutters out. This one has one word on it. MEOW. And holy shit, I recognize the handwriting this time. Ryan Wesley.

Still pulling down your pants and flashing your junk for no conceivable reason?” His teammates erupt around us, their laughter thundering in my chest. “Shit, he was always like this?” somebody says. A grin tugs the corner of Wes’s mouth. “I’ve never deprived the world of my God-given masculine beauty.

And I notice another flash of metal. His tongue is pierced. That’s new, too. Annnd now I’m thinking about his tongue. Jesus fuck

What are you waiting for, Ryan? Suck it already.” Surprise jolted through me. He only called me Ryan when he was taunting me. And right now he was taunting me about sucking his dick. Jesus.

Jesus Christ!” “I still go by Wes,” he says, pushing off the wall. “Or Ryan. Or jackass.”

You mean the bright red one with pink cocks all over it? Yeah, I remember. And fuck you very much,

Fuck, shit, cock, pussy—” “For the love of Christ!” a loud voice booms from behind us. “Do I need to wash your mouth out with soap, Canning?” I choke down my laughter as Pat appears. He shakes his head in disbelief as he stares at Jamie, then narrows his eyes and turns to me. “Actually, what am I saying? Canning wouldn’t even know those words if it weren’t for you, Wesley. Shame on you.” I flash Pat an innocent smile. “I’m pure as the driven snow, Coach. Canning was the one who corrupted me.”

Come over here,” I say. “Please.” “No fucking way,” he replies. “I can make you.” He laughs. “Did you smoke some pot while I was out, Canning?

I know I’m home. Because home is with him.

Book Review: The Hate you give Angie Thomas

The Hate U Give (The Hate U Give, #1)The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 4-9

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.

Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

But what Starr does or does not say could upend her community. It could also endanger her life.

Review : This book was very powerful when at a party with her friend she runs into her old friend Khalil and when shots go off he brings her to his car then a cop stops him and ends up shooting Khalil in front of star and she is hurting and doesn’t know what she should do she wants to speak out to help Khalil so she starts to speak she wants that cop to be arested but she knows it won’t happen which is very fucked up I mean he killed him . There is also this big drug dealer who may try to go after star cause she snitched . Star goes to a fancy school and she is a different kind of person she has a boyfriend named Chris and I really love them together and she has two friends Maya and Hailey I hated Hailey she made these remarks and I wanted to punch her and when the news came out with all the Khalil stuff she felt bad for the cop when the cop killed Khalil . And when Hailey said he would of died anyway cause he was a drug dealer I wanted to punch her and star did . When it’s announced that the cop won’t get jail time Star freaks out and wants to take a stand and she does I really loved this book it gave a message that we all need to read this and speak out .
Quotes : “Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.”

At an early age I learned that people make mistakes, and you have to decide if their mistakes are bigger than your love for them.”

Brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared. It means you go on even though you’re scared.”

Why does Chris always have to be lil’l to you ? I ask . He’s not little . You better be talking about his height says Daddy , Amen , Uncle Carlos adds and they fist bump again.

That’s the problem. We let people say stuff, and they say it so much that it becomes okay to them and normal for us. What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?”

“Once upon a time there was a hazel-eyed boy with dimples. I called him Khalil. The world called him a thug.
He lived, but not nearly long enough, and for the rest of my life I’ll remember how he died.
Fairy tale? No. But I’m not giving up on a better ending.”

“Once you’ve seen how broken someone is it’s like seeing them naked—you can’t look at them the same anymore.”

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

September 22- June 2

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world torn apart

Review : I freaking loved this book so much . I hate Tamlin though he can go far far away he was totally abusive to Feyre and there going to get married and she wanted someone to stop it and then Rhys shows up yess I love Rhys he is trying to help with her power and teaching her to write and read . He finally traps Feyre in the house and she freaks out and More takes Feyre to the night court and then Feyre meets everyone in the night court I love them all Cassian , Azriel and Amren . I love Feyre and Rhy’s relationship in this book They are both very smart ass towards each other . So the guy hyburn is trying to tear down the wall of the human world WTF he’s crazy and Ryhs and ferye and everyone else want peace . Feyre has been training with Cassian to fight and there were many scenes where Feyre was checking out Rhysand oh god . Feyre and Amren end up taking this book and almost drown . I hate the fucking queens in this book fucking bitches . I ship Cassian and Nesta so much they butt heads with each other a lot . I so knew Ryhs was going to be Feyre’s mate Ryhs’s gets shot by ash arrows and then he gets taken and Feyre fucking kills those people so badassand she needs to heal him so she traps the surial again and the surial tells Feyre Rhy’s is her mate and I knew it was coming but I screamed and I’m pretty sure Surial ships Rhy’s and Feyre Ha . Quotes:
To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”

“I fell in love with you, smartass, because you were one of us—because you weren’t afraid of me, and you decided to end your spectacular victory by throwing that piece of bone at Amarantha like a javelin. I felt Cassian’s spirit beside me in that moment, and could have sworn I heard him say, ‘If you don’t marry her, you stupid prick, I will.

When you spend so long trapped in darkness, Lucien, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.

“I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal.
I was a survivor, and I was strong.
I would not be weak, or helpless again
I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.

She is my mate. And my spy,’ I said too quietly. ‘And she is the High Lady of the Night Court.’
‘What?’ Mor whsipered.
I caressed a mental finger down that bond now hidden deep, deep within us, and said, ‘If they had removed her other glove, they would have seen a second tatoo on her right arm. The twin to the other. Inked last night, when we crept out, found a priestess, and I swore her in as my High Lady.’ (…) ‘Not consort, not wife. Feyre is High Lady of the Night Court.’ My equal in every way; she would wear my crown, sit on a throne beside mine. Never sidelined, never designated to breeding and parties and child rearing. My queen.”

Hello, Feyre darling,” he purred.”

I was burning through books every day – stories about people and places I’d never heard of. They were perhaps the only thing that kept me from teetering into utter despair.

“Say it,” I gritted out.
“The High Lord of the Night Court is your mate.

When you lick me,” he said roughly, “I want to be alone—far away from everyone. Because when you lick me, Feyre,” he said, pressing nipping kisses to my jaw, my neck, “I’m going to let myself roar loud enough to bring down a mountain.

Aware of every breath, every movement, I sat in his lap. His hands gently braced my hips as I studied his face. “And now I want you to know, Rhysand, that I love you. I want you to know … ” His lips trembled, and I brushed away the tear that escaped down his cheek. “I want you to know,” I whispered, “that I am broken and healing, but every piece of my heart belongs to you. And I am honored—honored to be your mate.”
His arms wrapped around me and he pressed his forehead to my shoulder, his body shaking. I stroked a hand through his silken hair.
“I love you,” I said again. I hadn’t dared say the words in my head. “And I’d endure every second of it over again so I could find you. And if war comes, we’ll face it. Together. I won’t let them take me from you. And I won’t let them take you from me, either.”
Rhys looked up, his face gleaming with tears. He went still as I leaned in, kissing away one tear. Then the other. As he had once kissed away mine.
When my lips were wet and salty with them, I pulled back far enough to see his eyes. “You’re mine,” I breathed.”

Why should I bother defending myself,” Nesta said with lethal cold, “to a male who is so puffed up on his own sense of importance there’s barely enough space in the room for his enormous head?

“You Illyrian males are insufferable.
Rhys had just said, Good thing we make up for it with impressive wingspans.”

I moaned then, tilting my head back to give him better access. His hands clamped on my waist, then moved—one going to cup my rear, the other sliding between us.
This—this moment, when it was him and me and nothing between our bodies …
His tongue scraped the roof of my mouth as he dragged a finger down the center of me, and I gasped, my back arching. “Feyre,” he said against my lips, my name like a prayer more devout than any Ianthe had offered up to the Cauldron on that dark solstice morning.
His tongue swept my mouth again, in time to the finger that he slipped inside of me. My hips undulated, demanding more, craving the fullness of him, and his growl reverberated in my chest as he added another finger.
I moved on him. Lightning lashed through my veins, and my focus narrowed to his fingers, his mouth, his body on mine. His palm pushed against the bundle of nerves at the apex of my thighs, and I groaned his name as I shattered”

I’m surprised there aren’t more mirrors in this house, since you seem to love looking at yourself so much.
