Book Review: This is reckless Kennedy fox

This is Reckless (Checkmate Duet, #3; Drew & Courtney, #1)This is Reckless by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

March 3- 25

Drew Fisher is the type of guy every girl wants.
Noble police officer by day, charming prince by night.
He has no idea the effect he has on women, especially me—his little sister’s best friend.

I’m the blonde Southern belle who lives up to the cliché, except I have my own quirks. I’m smart as a whip, can change my own oil, and recite The Pledge of Allegiance backward, but he doesn’t see that girl.

It’d be easier to forget him if he wasn’t my roommate and if the first thing I saw in the morning wasn’t his shirtless body covered in tattoos. I’ve crushed on him since the day we met, but he’s made it perfectly clear where we stand. Just friends.

I know I need to move on and accept that his feelings will never be mutual, but every day he smiles at me, I’m left dreaming of what if.

He has girl issues, and I’ve got a crush I can’t deny.
We’re friends, but I want more.

One drunken hookup leaves us with much more than a platonic friendship. Pretending it never happened proves to be more difficult than anticipated.

A crazy ex-girlfriend, a dangerous war of stolen glances, and passionate kisses leads to the most reckless battle yet. I won’t be a pawn in his game, but I’ll play by his rules if it will show him I’m the one worth breaking them for.

Checkmate, Prince Charming.
Review : I love this series this is about Drew and Courtney who I love together there so cute so this takes place around Travis and Viola’s wedding Drew and Mia are back together ughhhh I hate that bitch but then she starts getting Jealous of Courtney cause Courtney and Drew are roommates and then her and Drew break up again . Courtney is depressed so she goes drinking with a friend of hers and Drew ends up at the same Bar and they talk and it turns out Drew didn’t forget . Drew and Courtney are so good together Courtney ends up making muffins for Drew’s Police event and fucking Mia shows up and Coutrney leaves Drew finds her they talk and Courtney invites him to texas where he meets her family it was so cute . Drew and Courtney are happy and then something happens Drew almost died and the person who tried to kill drew killed himself infront of Drew and it kinda messed him up so courtney and him go to vegas to take his mind off what happend they were having an awesome time but that fucking cliffhanger why was mia in his bed WTF I need the next book now .
Quotes :
I’m in Drew Fisher’s bed with Drew Fisher.

“I might not have an eight pack, but the girls have gotten their fair share of free drinks.” She waves a finger over her chest, arches her brow, and now I’m the one blushing

It’s three in the goddamn morning.” “Well, tell that to your nephew. Apparently, he’s ready to make his debut.” I shuffle around my room for something to wear. “Now?” It finally hits him. “Yes, now!” I turn around and see him in only a pair of boxer shorts, and by the looks of it, Drew Jr. is also awake. I blush so hard and turn back

I hope so because if you miss this, she will speed over here, use your handcuffs against you, then proceed to cut off your balls and feed them to you

“You deserve better than her.” She lowers her eyes and then murmurs, “God, I wish you could see that.”

Stop looking at my brother like you want to rip off his clothes!” she said with a groan. I couldn’t find the strength to take my eyes off him as he walked down the hall to his bedroom. “I want to do a lot more than that…” I smile. “And those handcuffs—”
“You want to go all Fifty Shades on his ass.” Just thinking about him and all the dirty things I’d do, I laughed. “Hot cop fantasy.

“Don’t make me give you a black eye before your wedding, King.” He knows I’m giving him shit, but he glares at me anyway. “Viola would mount your head on the cross of Jesus herself.”

“Who says I’m not going to punch him in the balls?” I ask with a laugh. Viola gives me a high five as Drew grabs himself. “Ladies, please leave my balls out of this.”

“You’ve already got my heart,” I whisper.

“I didn’t know it was possible to fall in love with my best friend.”

“Thank you.” His words take me off guard. “For what?” His lips tilt up in a genuine smile. “For waiting for me.”

“I meant what I said before.” I blink, thinking back. “I’ve fallen in love with my best friend,” he says, reminding me. Not that I could ever forget those words coming from his lips. I bring my hand up to his that’s resting on my cheek. “It’s about damn time. I’ve been in love with my best friend all along.”

“You trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me?” He flashes a sly smirk, and it makes me giddy to see him joking around. “Um, always!” I laugh. “Viola practically had to stop me from climbing you like a tree for three years, so I will always take advantage.”

He’s losing himself in his obsessive compulsions and destructive choices, and the secrets he’s been keeping are tearing him apart.

Review : I loved this book it made me cry I loved these characters . Giffin’s ex boyfriend died and he’s having trouble dealing with it I loved how it was talked in the past and present.Griffin starts chatting with Jackson there’s boyfriend Griffin never liked Jackson cause he was still in love with Theo but he broke up with Theo cause he wanted Theo to enjoy college and then Theo meets Jackson and he loves them both which is kinda fucked up cause Theo was mostly stringing Griffin along . Griffin ends of going to california with Jackson and they end up sleeping together . Jackson tells Griffin he didnt save Theo and he went for a lifeguard and Griffin gets mad and leaves . Griffin decides to talk to wade who was theo’s best friend and his friend who he ended up sleeping with multiple times they decided to just be friends . Jackson visits again and him and Griffin talk Wade is very jealous . I feel like wade and Griffin will get together but griffin had to let Theo go I loved this book very emotional .
Quotes:
Time doesn’t heal all wounds. We both know that’s bullshit; it comes from people who have nothing comforting or original to say.”

People are complicated puzzles, always trying to piece together a complete picture, but sometimes we get it wrong and sometimes we’re left unfinished. Sometimes that’s for the best. Some pieces can’t be forced into a puzzle, or at least they shouldn’t be, because they won’t make sense.”

“History is nothing. It can be recycled or thrown away completely. It isn’t this sacred treasure chest I mistook it to be. We were something, but history isn’t enough to keep something alive forever.”

Griffin . Hey
No way
I freeze at the sound of my dad’s voice He’s right behind us.
I honestly think Id rather be caught masterbating .
wade laughs a little to himself probably. because this is going to be painfully humiliating .

I’ll never understand how time can make a moment feel as close as yesterday and as far as years.”

“But hey, if there’s one bright side to your dying, it’s that you aren’t around to tell me things I don’t like hearing. I’m sorry. That was a dickhead thing to say. I need a condom for my mouth.

Book Review: it ends with us Colleen Hoover

It Ends with UsIt Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

December 29-March 12
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
Review : This book was sad and beautiful . Lily has been through a lot and then she meets Ryle a doctor he tells her he doesn’t do relationships but he wants her so they finally start going out but then in a heat of a moment he hurts her . Lily owns a flower shop and her coworker is Ryle’s sister . She tells him if he hurts her again she will leave him . Lily’s friend from childhood is back Atlas . When Lily was younger Atlas was a homeless kid Lilly use to smuggle food and they use to watch the ellen show and then there relationship became more until he moved and went to the military but now he’s back he owns a restaurant . Ryle is threatened by there past relationship and speaks harshly to Atlas saying Lilly pitty fucked him . Lily’s father was abusive to her mom . Lily is happy with Ryle , Ryle meets Lily’s mom . Alysa is is pregnant. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book because I don’t really like abuse books but it was told very well . Lily meets Ryle’s parents and they like her and Lily and Ryle get married Alysa has her baby rylee a baby girl and then Lily goes home and Ryle has been drinking and he hurts her again twice one he pushes her and there was an incident Ryle accidentally shot his older brother and he died . Ryle tells lily he wants help that he needs to walk away sometimes but then something bad happened he hurts her again he bites her beats his head against her and tried to Rape her I FUCKING HATE THIS MAN and she calls Atlas and she goes to the hospital and she stays with Atlas for a few days and she meets his friends Ryle is going to England for three months and Lily finds out she’s pregnant a lot to take in and she doesn’t know what to do about Ryle she finally tells Alysa she tells Lilly to leave him . Ryle is back and Lily tells him off . And she tells her mom . Lily goes into labor and she tells Ryle she wants a divorce . Months later when she’s bringing emmy to see Ryle she runs into Atlas she drops of Emmy and runs after him and I hope they end up happy together they talk about kids and charity .
Quotes:There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.
He pulls back to look down at me and when he sees my tears, he brings his hands up to my cheeks. “In the future… if by some miracle you ever find yourself in the position to fall in love again… fall in love with me.”
It stops here. With me and you. It ends with us.”
You can stop swimming now, Lily. We finally reached the shore.”
“Maybe love isn’t something that comes full circle. It just ebbs and flows, in and out, just like the people in our lives.
Just because we didn’t end up on the same wave, doesn’t mean we aren’t apart of the same ocean.” “Did I mention he was wearing a onesie? I’m talking a legit, full-grown man in a SpongeBob onesie.”
Yes. I kept the magnet Atlas gave me when we were kids. Yes. I kept the journals. No, I didn’t tell you about my tattoo. Yes, I probably should have. And yes, I still love him. And I’ll love him until I die, because he was a huge part of my life. And yes, I’m sure that hurts you. But none of that gave you the right to do what you did to me. Even if you would have walked into my bedroom and caught us in bed together, you still would not have the right to lay a hand on me, you goddamn son of a bitch!

Quotes
This is where I belong. Wherever you are. Always.”

“This was always my home. Wherever he was.”

I know what being around you does to me.” I grab her hand and place it against my chest, my other hand reclaiming its spot on her hip. Her eyes dart from my face to where her hand is and I see her eyes react to the effect she has on me. “Do you feel that? That’s what you do to me. Every fucking time I’m near you.” I can hear her heavy breathing while her eyes stay glued to her hand. I don’t say anything else. I just let her feel it. You own this part of me. Take it.”

I press my lips to her forehead, pulling the covers up over us both. “Sleep, angel. You have me. I’m never letting you go.” And with those words to her, she finally relaxes.”

I was trying to be good, baby. I wanted you to see that I’m not that same guy you once knew. I’ll never be that guy. I’ll never hurt you, Mia, and I’ll fucking kill anyone that does. But this is it. Once I have you again, I’m not letting you go. So you better be damn sure this is what you want because there’s no going back after this.

“Ben pulls his wallet out of the back of his pants. Where his ass is. That. Ass. It’s the perfectly sculpted entity in itself. There should be internet sites dedicated to it. Fan clubs. Parades even.”

Book Review: this is love Kennedy fox

This is Love (Checkmate Duet #2)This is Love by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

March 2- 3

Viola Fisher is the epitome of perfection.
She despises my one-night stands and mocks my less-than-classy habits.
She’s smart, beautiful, and too good to be true.
And I want her.

If she were anyone else, I’d have made my move years ago, but considering she’s my best friend’s little sister, she’s always been off-limits. Not to mention how much she loathes my very existence.

Hating me is her religion, but needing her is mine. Her sexy curves and filthy smart mouth make me want her even more, and I’m more determined than ever to change her mind.

I’ll prove I’m done playing games.
But until then, we’ll continue to play by her rules.
Viola Fisher may have won the battle, but the war isn’t over yet.

Checkmate, princess.

Book Review: This is war Kennedy fox

This is War (The Checkmate Duet #1)This is War by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

February 28- March 2

Travis King is the worst kind of a**hole.
He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards.
He’s cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes.
And I hate him.

It wouldn’t matter so much if he were avoidable.
But considering he’s my older brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I’d ever want to.
His sculpted abs and gorgeous eyes are wasted on such an arrogant man, which makes me hate him even more.

Even though I’ve had a crush on him since I was ten, the feelings weren’t mutual and he’s made that very clear.
He’s always loved getting under my skin and one night against my better judgment, I let him in my bed.
I’ve succumbed to his manw**re ways, but that doesn’t change a thing.

Because the King is about to get played at his own game–and lose.
Checkmate

Quotes
You can have anything,” she said, “once you admit you deserve it.”

I know it hurts. I know it hurts so bad you can barely breathe sometimes. I know because I’ve been there. Please don’t leave us. I promise life can be good, and we need you too much.”

Maybe secrets were part of life; maybe everyone had something they were lying to themselves about, or something they were hiding.
I looked up at the cross again and wondered if I was supposed to hear this particular sermon at this particular moment for a reason. I decided that the people who had said God didn’t love me, who said I didn’t have a place on Earth—they were wrong. God wanted me to live, and this was the only way I knew how to survive, so this was what God wanted. This was what I wanted. I had chosen to live, and it seemed like, finally, I was doing just that.”

“I wondered if joy could ever be felt by itself without being tainted with fear and confusion, or if some level of misery was a universal constant, like the speed of light.”

For as long as I could remember, I had been apologizing for existing, for trying to be who I was, to live the life I was meant to lead.”

Book Review: Shameless Gina L. Maxwell

Shameless (Playboys in Love, #1)Shameless by Gina L. Maxwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

January 14- 21

People say I’m shameless. They’re right.

I like my sex dirty. It takes a hell of a lot to tilt my moral compass, and I always follow when it’s pointing at something I want. That goes double when it points straight at the one girl in all of Chicago who’s not dying for a piece of me.

She’s all I can think about, and that’s a problem, because she wants nothing to do with me. But I’ve seen her deepest secrets, her darkest fantasies, and they match mine to a fucking T.

I want her. Bad.

Now I need to show her how good it can feel…to be shameless.

Review : I loved this book , this book was funny and sexy Jane just wants her sink fixed and Jane’s friend calls a guy to come over to “fix it ” but the handyman is actually a stripper name Chance . But Jane doesn’t know he’s a stripper until he starts dancing for her . They make a deal Chance will fix her sink and dance for her . When he’s in her bathroom he finds something on her laptop some really kinky porn Jane likes it rough . Chance dances for her and then they have some kinky sex and he leaves but he can’t get Jane out of his head so he finds her at her work when he’s with his friends which are very interesting characters
Austin a firefighter and Roman a lawyer very interesting combo for strippers. Chance fallows her to the bathroom for some fun so they agree to a no strings relationship . Lots of Kinky sex until Chance doesn’t just want that when he sees men hitting on Jane he tells her he wants more while there in the bath and I love them together . Chance is worried Jane might want to change him . Jane goes to her cousins birthday and strippers are there Austin , Roman and Chance oh god and Jane leaves and when she gets home her and Chance get in a fight cause Jane asks him if he ever thought about stopping stripping and they break up . Chance is angry and he goes to Jane and they do there sexy time and get back together . Jane decides to get back at her friend and Chance says he’s going to send her Ruthless who is roman I can’t wait till the next book .

Damn, that means my thrusting game would be the reason a marrage gets called off . He shakes his head and whistles . That’s pretty fucking heavy , Man but I guess what they is true . With great cock come great responsibility.

No , I was thinking more along the lines of another laywer. one who could schedule a meeting in a conference room one of these nights when she’s working late all by herself . one who might start loosening the constraints of his suit during the meeting to get comfortable then might end up with it off all together . Her beautiful brown eyes grow wide with excitement . oh my god , she says Roman not roman I answer with a wink Ruthless

Book Review: November 9 Colleen Hoover

November 9November 9 by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

November 23- December 29

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist

Review: Ben meets Fallon on November 9th which is a big date in this book . Fallon was in a big accident when she was younger a fire was set on her dad’s house and he forgot about her so at this dinner with her father where he’s mostly insulting her cause she wants to get into acting again she’s moving to NYC and then Ben steps in pretending to be her boyfriend so they spend the night together hang out and agree to spend November 9th together until there 23 Ben is going to write a book about there love story I loved this book these characters are very interesting I laughed I cried a lot reading this book I think I loved this book more than Slammed . The second November Fallon meets Ben’s brothers Ian and kyle , Kyle ends up punching Ben for we find out later on Ben gets a tattoo it was a cute scene Fallen leaves for NYC . The next november was sad Ben’s brother died in a car accident I felt so bad for Jorden his wife who is pregnant with there child I cried so much so Ben couldn’t make it this November 9 and he wanted fallen but she goes to him which I thought was really sweet they end up having sex and Ben wants to move to NYC but Fallen tells him no he has to be here for his family and she’s right but Ben is heartbroken . Fallen ends up moving back to LA so she can teach acting and Ben shows up with Oliver and he breaks the news to Fallen he’s with Jorden the worse part is you can’t hate Jorden cause of what she’s been through but I felt so bad for Fallen and Ben Fallen says she’s not going to show up next year and I started crying . Ben finds her next year when Fallen is on a date with a big douche Ben and fallen end up making out and then some punching happens and Fallen goes to Ben’s place and she finds his book and we learn he started the fire I screamed WTF how what I needed answers but Fallen was afraid so she left and Ben was heartbroken . Ps I think they intertwined some of ugly love in this book cause Tate and Miles were in this and Ian was Miles friend in ugly love omg

Favorite quotes
I’m not going to pretend that I know what youve gone through . but after reading those pages , I can assure you that you aren’t the only one who was scarred in that fire . just because he chose not to show you his scars doesn’t mean they don’t exist . she picks up the box and sets it on my lap . here you need to show him the respect he showed you by not turning away from them

I dont want to be your first , Fallon . I want to be your last

it pisses me off you allow something so trivial to define such a huge part of you . I can’t make you pretty in the book . Because that be an insult You’re fucking beautiful. And you’re funny . And the only times I’m not completely enamored by you are the moments you’re feeling sorry for yourself because I don’t know if you’ve realized this yet , but your alive , fallon . and every time you look in the mirror you don’t have a right to hate what you see . Because you survived when a lot of people don’t get that lucky so from now on when you think about your scars , you aren’t allowed to resent them . you’re going to embrace them, because you’re lucky to be on this earth to see them. And any guy you allow to touch your scars better thank you for that privilege.

Wow . Is he …
he is
Ben . I say narrowing my eyes . Are you… booksting me ?
he cocks an eyebrow . Booksting ?
Yeah when a hot guy talks books with a girl . It’s like sexting but out loud with books instead of sex . Nor does it have to do with texts . Okay , so it’s nothing like sexting , but it made sense in my head . He falls onto the bed in laughter . I scoot toward him and place my hand on his chest as I lean over him . Don’t stop I tease in a seductive voice . Give me more Ben . Did you read ebooks or… I run my finger slowly down his chest . Hardbacks ? He pulls his hand behind his head and a smug look washes over his face . Oh they were hardback, all right and I’m not sure if your ready for this , but …. I have my very own TBR pile you should see it , Fallon . It’s huge .

one of the things I try to remind myself is that everyone has scars , she says . A lot of them even worse then mine . the only difference is mine are viable most people’s aren’t .

I read a lot of romance , so I know when the timing is right . if we’re going to kiss it has to be book-worthy.

I practically live in Starbucks . I’m a writer . it’s a rite of passage

If we’re going to kiss, it has to be book-worthy.”

She “loved me” in quotations She kissed me in bold I TRIED TO KEEP HER in all caps She left with an ellipsis . . .”

You can’t leave yet. I’m not finished falling in love with you.

“It’s easy to fall in love, Ben. The hard part comes when you want out.”

Loving someone means accepting all the things and people that person loves, too.”

When you’re willing to give up the things that mean the most to you just to see someone else happy, that’s real love.”

I’m not sure if sex is supposed to make you feel like you’ve just lost a part of yourself to the person inside you, but that’s exactly what it felt like. It felt as if the second we joined together, a tiny piece of our souls got confused and a piece of his fell into me and a piece of mine fell into him. It was by far the single most intense moment I’ve ever shared with another person.”

“if you tell me you want to spend every single day on the calendar this year falling in love with me, then I’m going to kiss you. And I promise it’ll be an eleven.”

I need you to to know that it was always you who had my heart.”

Book Review: Furiously happy a funny book about horrible things Jenny Lawson

Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible ThingsFuriously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book review : Furiously happy by jenny lawson December 20-24

In LET’S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED, Jenny Lawson baffled readers with stories about growing up the daughter of a taxidermist. In her new book, FURIOUSLY HAPPY, Jenny explores her lifelong battle with mental illness. A hysterical, ridiculous book about crippling depression and anxiety? That sounds like a terrible idea. And terrible ideas are what Jenny does best.

According to Jenny: “Some people might think that being ‘furiously happy’ is just an excuse to be stupid and irresponsible and invite a herd of kangaroos over to your house without telling your husband first because you suspect he would say no since he’s never particularly liked kangaroos. And that would be ridiculous because no one would invite a herd of kangaroos into their house. Two is the limit. I speak from personal experience. My husband says that none is the new limit. I say he should have been clearer about that before I rented all those kangaroos.”

“Most of my favorite people are dangerously fucked-up but you’d never guess because we’ve learned to bare it so honestly that it becomes the new normal. Like John Hughes wrote in The Breakfast Club, ‘We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it.’ Except go back and cross out the word ‘hiding.'”

Jenny’s first book, LET’S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED, was ostensibly about family, but deep down it was about celebrating your own weirdness. FURIOUSLY HAPPY is a book about mental illness, but under the surface it’s about embracing joy in fantastic and outrageous ways-and who doesn’t need a bit more of that?
Review : I loved this book I loved the way Jenny talked about living with anxiety and depression I read this with the audiobook it was so funny and relate able I’ve had anxiety since I was 11 or 12 . And reading this book made me see that I’m not alone others have the same or different problems as me . I highly recommend reading this book if you have anxiety or just want to understand it . She talks about being married and having a daughter and other crazy things that have happened to her and when she talks about things that could happen in her head I’m like I totally understand .
Quotes
i’m alergic to latex and it makes me break out in a rash so most condoms are out for me because the last thing any of us want is a vagina rash . The alternative is the ones made out of sheepskin , but it always creeps me out because does that mean Victor and I are having sex with a sheep ? A dead sheep , actually . So bestiality and necrophilia . And a three way ,I think . I actually mentioned this to Victor and he immediately booked a vasectomy , which is sweet because it’s nice he cares about me . He claimed it was less his caring and more ” Id rather have my nuts cut off than have to listen to you talk about having three ways with dead sheep.

When you come out of the grips of a depression there is an incredible relief, but not one you feel allowed to celebrate. Instead, the feeling of victory is replaced with anxiety that it will happen again, and with shame and vulnerability when you see how your illness affected your family, your work, everything left untouched while you struggled to survive. We come back to life thinner, paler, weaker … but as survivors. Survivors who don’t get pats on the back from coworkers who congratulate them on making it. Survivors who wake to more work than before because their friends and family are exhausted from helping them fight a battle they may not even understand. I hope to one day see a sea of people all wearing silver ribbons as a sign that they understand the secret battle, and as a celebration of the victories made each day as we individually pull ourselves up out of our foxholes to see our scars heal, and to remember what the sun looks like.”

Don’t sabotage yourself. There are plenty of other people willing to do that for free.”

Without the dark there isn’t light. Without the pain there is no relief. And I remind myself that I’m lucky to be able to feel such great sorrow, and also such great happiness. I can grab on to each moment of joy and live in those moments because I have seen the bright contrast from dark to light and back again. I am privileged to be able to recognize that the sound of laughter is a blessing and a song, and to realize that the bright hours spent with my family and friends are extraordinary treasures to be saved, because those same moments are a medicine, a balm. Those moments are a promise that life is worth fighting for, and that promise is what pulls me through when depression distorts reality and tries to convince me otherwise.”

Last month, as Victor drove me home so I could rest, I told him that sometimes I felt like his life would be easier without me. He paused a moment in thought and then said, “It might be easier. But it wouldn’t be better.”

I can tell you that “Just cheer up” is almost universally looked at as the most unhelpful depression cure ever. It’s pretty much the equivalent of telling someone who just had their legs amputated to “just walk it off.” Some people don’t understand that for a lot of us, mental illness is a severe chemical imbalance rather just having “a case of the Mondays.” Those same well-meaning people will tell me that I’m keeping myself from recovering because I really “just need to cheer up and smile.” That’s when I consider chopping off their arms and then blaming them for not picking up their severed arms so they can take them to the hospital to get reattached.”

most of my favorite people are dangerously fucked up but you’d never guess it because we’ve either become adept at hiding it or we’ve learned to bare it so honestly that it becomes the new normal. There’s a quote from The Breakfast Club that goes “We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it.” I have it on a poster but I took a Sharpie to it and scratched out the word “hiding” because it reminds me that there’s a certain pride and freedom that comes from wearing your unique bizarreness like a badge of honor.”

Book Review: Carry the ocean Heidi Cullinan

Carry the Ocean (The Roosevelt, #1)Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

December 6-9

Normal is just a setting on the dryer.

High school graduate Jeremey Samson is looking forward to burying his head under the covers and sleeping until it’s time to leave for college. Then a tornado named Emmet Washington enters his life. The double major in math and computer science is handsome, forward, wicked smart, interested in dating Jeremey—and he’s autistic.

But Jeremey doesn’t judge him for that. He’s too busy judging himself, as are his parents, who don’t believe in things like clinical depression. When his untreated illness reaches a critical breaking point, Emmet is the white knight who rescues him and brings him along as a roommate to The Roosevelt, a quirky new assisted living facility nearby.

As Jeremey finds his feet at The Roosevelt, Emmet slowly begins to believe he can be loved for the man he is behind the autism. But before he can trust enough to fall head over heels, he must trust his own conviction that friendship is a healing force, and love can overcome any obstacle.

Warning: Contains characters obsessed with trains and counting, positive representations of autism and mental illness, a very dark moment, and Elwood Blues.

sometimes I feel like everyone else is carrying a bucket of water but I’m trying to carry an ocean. its very hard. sometimes I would rather not carry my ocean, even if it meant I couldn’t be alive.”
I am normal. I belong. I have a friend who can kick ass from a wheelchair. I live independently and get good grades. I’m an excellent lover.

Like I said. I’m awesome. I’m Emmet David Washington. Train Man. The best autistic Blues Brother on the block.”

my emotions feel loud and big. its hard for me to keep hold of them. they weigh me down. make me heavy and tired and overwhelmed. sometimes I feel like everyone else is carrying a bucket of water but I’m trying to carry an ocean. its very hard. sometimes I would rather not carry my ocean, even if it meant I couldn’t be alive.”

Sometimes I liked him for his smile. Sometimes I liked him because he didn’t smile. Sometimes I got an erection because of the way he brushed his hair away from his face. It didn’t matter to my brain that these were odd reasons to care for someone. My brain, my body, my everything wanted to be Jeremey’s boyfriend.”

Book Review: The dream thieves Maggie Stiefvater

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2)The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

May 20- September 28
If you could steal things from dreams, what would you take?

Ronan Lynch has secrets. Some he keeps from others. Some he keeps from himself.

One secret: Ronan can bring things out of his dreams.

And sometimes he’s not the only one who wants those things.

Ronan is one of the raven boys – a group of friends, practically brothers, searching for a dead king named Glendower, who they think is hidden somewhere in the hills by their elite private school, Aglionby Academy. The path to Glendower has long lived as an undercurrent beneath town. But now, like Ronan’s secrets, it is beginning to rise to the surface – changing everything in its wake.

Review : This book was awesome I love Ronan well I love all the boys but Ronan is an interesting character he can take things from his dream he created chainsaw from his dreams . Cabeswater is gone Ronan created it and it’s just gone . His father could do what Ronan can do and he created Ronan’s mother who is stuck in a dream state . We meet a new character the gray man who is a hit man who was hired to take the greywaren who is Ronan he goes to 300 fox way and gets his reading done and ends up taking blue’s mom on a date . Kavinsky can do what Ronan can do also but he’s also fucking crazy he speed races with ronan a lot I’m pretty sure he’s gay just the way he acts around Ronan . But he takes this pill that gets him in his dreams it’s very weird . Ronan created this creature from this dream which was scary as hell . Adam and Gansey go to DC and Adam goes missing for a bit and looses his memory of how he went missing . Blue still hasn’t told Adam about her curse and he doesn’t know why she wont kiss him . Noah and Blue kiss it was so cute . Blue finally tells Adam about her curse after he came back and she tells him that it won’t be him . She takes a ride with Gansey and they talk and they like each other but there trying to ignore it so they won’t hurt Adam but there so cute together . Ronan likes Adam like there are little hints that were given . Ronan’s other brother mathew is so adorable and Ronan cares for him unlike his other brother . Ronan and Mathew break into there house that there not allowed to be in and someone else breaks in and takes the box that Ronan created from his dream . Kavinsky takes Mathew and Ronan and him have this huge fight they find mathew and Kavinsky is dead . Cabeswater is back and they take Ronan’s mother there and she wakes up I loved this book at the end Ronan says that ones of his secrets is Adam oh my god . onto the next one .

Quotes:
you are still wearing those incredibly stupid boat shoes and of all the things you have bought , you still haven’t replaced them !
Ronan eyed Noah . I’m seeing an apparition right now . Noah made a rude gesture, a hilariously unthreatening act coming from him , like a growl from a kitten.

What’s that ?
Jane ! Gansey said joyfully
Adam said , it’s a wizard in a box.
It will do your homework , Noah added .
And it’s been dating your girlfriend , Ronan finished
Blue scowled. Are you all drunk ?

In that moment , Blue was a little in love with all of them . Their magic . Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness . Her raven boys .

“I wish you could be kissed, Jane,’ he said. ‘Because I would beg just one off you. Under all this.’ He flailed an arm toward the stars.”

A secret is a strange thing.

There are three kinds of secrets. One is the sort everyone knows about, the sort you need at least two people for. One to keep it. One to never know. The second is a harder kind of secret: one you keep from yourself. Every day, thousands of confessions are kept from their would-be confessors, none of these people knowing that their never-admitted secrets all boil down to the same three words: I am afraid.

And then there is the third kind of secret, the most hidden kind. A secret no one knows about. Perhaps it was known once, but was taken to the grave. Or maybe it is a useless mystery, arcane and lonely, unfound because no one ever looked for it.

Sometimes, some rare times, a secret stays undiscovered because it is something too big for the mind to hold. It is too strange, too vast, too terrifying to contemplate.

All of us have secrets in our lives. We’re keepers or keptfrom, players or played. Secrets and cockroaches — that’s what will be left at the end of it all.”

Ronan’s bedroom door burst open. Hanging on the door frame, Ronan leaned out to peer past Gansey. He was doing that thing where he looked like both the dangerous Ronan he was now and the cheerier Ronan he had been when Gansey first met him.

“Hold on,” Gansey told Adam. Then, to Ronan: “Why would he be?”

“No reason. Just no reason.” Ronan slammed his door.

Gansey asked Adam, “Sorry. You still have that suit for the party?”

Adam’s response was buried in the sound of the second-story door falling open. Noah slouched in. In a wounded tone, he said, “He threw me out the window!”

Ronan’s voice sang out from behind his closed door: “You’re already dead!”

He left Chainsaw behind, much to her irritation. Ronan didn’t want her to learn any bad language.”

When Maura opened the door of 300 Fox Way, she found the Gray Man standing pensively on the other side. He had brought her two things: a daisy-chain crown, which he somberly placed on her head, and a pink switchblade, which he handed to her. Both had taken some effort to procure. The first because the Gray Man had forgotten how to efficiently link daisies and the second because switchblades were illegal in Virginia, even if they were pink

he stole a life. Now she must pay with her heart.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Review : I read my first Sarah J. Maas book and it was amazing and beautiful this is a beauty and the beast retelling and I was super excited to read this cause beauty and the beast is one of my favorite movies . Fayre ends up killing a fey which is against the rules and she ends up having to live with the fey we meet Tamilin who I love Feyre is trying to get out of the treaty but she can’t there is no getting out of it she ends up trapping a surriel he ends up telling her to stay with Tamlin that it would be safer . There is a blight that stuck them with masks . I love Lucian and Tamlin there just awesome guy characters. Things start get hot and steamy with Tamlin and Fayre she was at this party which she wasn’t supposed to be at and these fey stop her and she was rescued by this beautiful fey . Lucian sees her and takes her so Tamlin won’t find her cause the magic is so intense that it makes him want her and he finds her and bites her neck . A fey wings were taken off and Feyre comforts the fairy cause she didn’t want him to die alone. We meet Rhysand who was the fey that saved feyre he’s the high lord of the night court and he makes Tamlin beg for him not to tell Amarantha about Feyre . Quotes:
“I love you,’ he whispered, and kissed my brow. ‘Thorns and all.”

Don’t feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy.”

“Rhysand stared at me for long enough that I faced him.
“Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don’t feel anything at all.”

There are those who seek me a lifetime but never we meet,
And those I kiss but who trample me beneath ungrateful feet.

At times I seem to favor the clever and the fair,
But I bless all those who are brave enough to dare.

By large, my ministrations are soft-handed and sweet,
But scorned, I become a difficult beast to defeat.

For though each of my strikes lands a powerful blow,
When I kill, I do it slow… ”

Would you like me to grovel with gratitude for bringing me here, High Lord?”

“Ah. The Suriel told you nothing important, did it?”

That smile of his sparked something bold in my chest. “He also said that you liked being brushed, and if I’m a clever girl, I might train you with treats.”

Tamlin tipped his head to the sky and roared with laughter. Despite myself, I let out a quiet laugh.

“I might die of surprise,” Lucien said behind me. “You made a joke, Feyre.”

I turned to look at him with a cool smile. “You don’t want to know what the Suriel said about you.” I flicked my brows up, and Lucien lifted his hands in defeat.

“I’d pay good money to hear what the Suriel thinks of Lucien,” Tamlin said.

A cork popped, followed by the sounds of Lucien chugging the bottle’s contents and chuckling with a muttered, “Brushed.”

Because I wouldn’t want to die alone,” I said, and my voice wobbled as I looked at Tamlin again, forcing myself to meet his stare. “Because I’d want someone to hold my hand until the end, and awhile after that.
That’s something everyone deserves, human or faerie.”

I heard you scream,” he said as he examined the blade in my hands. I’d never held one so finely crafted, so perfectly balanced. “And I hesitated. Not long, but I hesitated before I came running. Even though Tam got there in time, I still broke my word in those seconds I waited.” He jerked his chin at the knife. “It’s yours. Don’t bury it in my back, please

Blood filled my mouth, warm as it dribbled out between my lips. I gazed at Tamlin’s masked face one last time.

“Love,” I breathed, the world crumbling into a blackness with no end. A pause in Amarantha’s magic. “The answer to the riddle…,” I got out, chocking on my own blood, “is… love.”

Tamlin’s eyes went wide before something forever cracked in my spine.”
