Book Review: playing for keeps J.C GRANT

Playing for Keeps (Playing For #1)Playing for Keeps by J.C. Grant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

September 23-October 13

WARNING: THIS IS AN EROTIC NOVEL. If you do NOT like dominant, possessive, very Alpha-males, Playing For Keeps is not for you.

Living in LA and dating celebrities wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. I found out the hard way many had a lifestyle I wanted no part of.

Then David Taylor forced his way into my life. A sledge hammer breaking down my well crafted walls.

He was gorgeous and sexy and intimidating. I was drawn to him in a way I had never been to anyone or anything. And I knew I couldn’t have him, I was too damaged, too flawed to really connect.

David saw what I was from the beginning. A broken scared girl locked away inside an aloof woman. And he was determined to free me. To make me his.

Review- I loved this book it is an erotic novel so be warned when you read it Austin meets David at the grocery store he becomes obsessed with her and ends up tracking her down they end up hooking up at the club. They both have been through allot of shit and I love them together then we find out David was a famous baseball player and Austin has a rule about them but then David takes her out on a date and I love them they are both so insecure but they find a way to be together . He asks Austin to move in together for two weeks and they do and they end up having crazy sex many times like wow 😉 but it was so romantic and intimate . David is a little crazy sometimes he ends up looking through her phone many times which was a little odd we find out Austin was raped as a kid and oh my god . But the ending was one of my favorite parts they officially move in together Austin loves David so much and he asks her to marry him and she at first thinks its crazy but then says yes I loved this book .
Quotes-I tried to take it slow, give you time to wrap your head around this. But I’m done playing nice… I’m taking what I want. I’m taking what’s mine,” he growled harshly behind my ear

You’re mine to take care of. To make sure you feel safe and secure. To make sure you’re happy, and I take it fucking seriously.”

Book Review: chasers of the Light Tyler knott Gregson

Chasers of the Light: Poems from the Typewriter SeriesChasers of the Light: Poems from the Typewriter Series by Tyler Knott Gregson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

October 10-10
The epic made simple. The miracle in the mundane.

One day, while browsing an antique store in Helena, Montana, photographer Tyler Knott Gregson stumbled upon a vintage Remington typewriter for sale. Standing up and using a page from a broken book he was buying for $2, he typed a poem without thinking, without planning, and without the ability to revise anything.

He fell in love.

Three years and almost one thousand poems later, Tyler is now known as the creator of the Typewriter Series: a striking collection of poems typed onto found scraps of paper or created via blackout method. Chasers of the Light features some of his most insightful and beautifully worded pieces of work—poems that illuminate grand gestures and small glimpses, poems that celebrate the beauty of a life spent chasing the light

Review – This poetry is amazing I love the format and the poems are gorgeous go read this book I connected with allot of the poem .

quotes-

Sometimes you look up and there just seems to be so many more stars that ever before. More. They burn brighter and they shine longer and they never vanish into your periphery when you turn your head. It’s as if they come out for us and to remind us that their light took so long to come to us, that if we never had the patience to wait, we never would have seen them here, tonight, like this.

That as much as it hurts, sometimes it’s all you can do, wait, endure and keep shining, knowing that eventually, your light will reach where it is supposed to reach and shine for who it is supposed to shine for.

It is never easy, but it is always worth it.”

You
are the poem
I never knew
how to write
and this life
is the story
I have always
wanted
to tell.”

Book Review: cupcakes and ink Helena Hunting

Cupcakes and Ink (Clipped Wings, #0.5)Cupcakes and Ink by Helena Hunting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

October 1-9

Tenley Page is looking for a new start: a new city, a new apartment, a new life. Her plan is to keep to herself and stay focused. But leaving her past behind and starting over isn’t as easy as she thought. And neither is maintaining her solitude. As Tenley settles into her new surroundings, she finds herself drawn to Inked Armor, the tattoo studio across the street. But it’s the gorgeous, dark-haired tattoo artist who captures her interest. There’s something about his severe beauty that captivates her—and not just in her waking hours.

Covered in the ink he inscribes on other people’s skin, Hayden Stryker has made a career out of being a tattooist. He’s got his own business and a tight circle of friends. As far as he’s concerned, that’s all he needs. At least until his aunt, who owns the antiques and used book store across from his tattoo studio, hires a new employee. At first his intrigue is based on physical appeal; hot chick equals something nice to look at. But as he begins to catch glimpses of the fiery personality under the fragile, feminine exterior, his fascination with Tenley grows. Annoyed by his inability to control his fixation, Hayden decides the best way to cure him of the new obsession is to get to know the girl under her skittish façade.

But like the ink he wears as armor, Tenley has the ability to get under his skin and stay there.

Review- I loved this novella I can’t wait to read clipped wings still waiting for it to come in the mail but I love this story so far Hayden I’m in love with him so far he’s a pierced tatoo artist dream book boyfriend I can tell he’s been through allot and so has Tenley she’s kind of obsessed with him she lives across the street from the tattoo parlor and she ends up getting a job and he comes in there allot she’s kind of skittish with him around . And he’s interested in her he can’t stop thinking of her they both end up looking at each other from each place which was both creepy and funny I need to know more loved it .

Favorite Quotes- One tattoo artist piqued my interest more than the others . Tall and broad , with dark hair , his extensive ink captured my attention as did his facial piercings .

Oh god , I was having sex dreams about her nephew . How much more embarrassed could I be ?

Inside the albums were snapshots of my life and all the people who had passed through it .

I could smell her perfume , or body lotion , or whatever she wore that made her smell so good. Like cupcakes . which I loved .

For the first time in years , I wanted …. something. Anything . As long it was real.

Book Review: the assassin and the empire sarah j maas

The Assassin and the Empire (Throne of Glass, #0.5)The Assassin and the Empire by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

September 8-11
Celaena Sardothien is the assassin with everything: a place to call her own, the love of handsome Sam, and, best of all, freedom. Yet, she won’t be truly free until she is far away from her old master, Arobynn Hamel; Celaena must take one last daring assignment that will liberate her forever. But having it all, means you have a lot to lose . . .

This fourth fantastic e-novella gives readers an inside look at the characters who appear in the full-length novel Throne of Glass. Don’t miss out!

Review – The last novella broke my heart in pieces this was my favorite I loved Sam and Celaena in this book so cute . Sam and Celaena go to arobyn to get out of the guild so they can leave Celena gives him money. And they get work to kill these terrible people and Aroybyn tries to stop her from doing it cause there that crazy but I don’t trust Aroybyn now even more after what he did . Sam goes to kill these guys when Celaena is supose to be packing I knew something bad was going to go down and he was killed yeah I was sobbing at this point I wanted to know who killed him . Celaena goes after the guys who killed Sam but it was a trap and she is sentenced to go to the salt mines I cried the most in the one I can’t believe Arobyn was involed in killing Sam ugh I hate him . But this my favorite of them all . Now onto throne of glass

Quotes-
“She would tuck Sam into her heart, a bright light for her to take out whenever things were darkest.
And then she would remember how it had felt to be loved, when the world held nothing but possibility. No matter what they did to her, they could never take that away.
She would not break.
And someday … someday, even it took her until her last breath, she’d find out who had done this to her. To Sam.”
He removed her hand from his cheek to kiss the tips of her fingers.

I get scared, too,” he murmured onto her skin. “You want to hear something ridiculous? Whenever I’m scared out of my wits, I tell myself: My name is Sam Cortland … and I will not be afraid. I’ve been doing it for years.”
It was her turn to raise her brows. “And that actually works?”
He laughed onto her fingers. “Sometimes it does, Sometimes it doesn’t. But usually it makes me feel better to some degree. Or just makes me laugh at myself a bit.”

But she squared her shoulders. Straightened her spine.

“My name is Celaena Sardothien,” she whispered, “and I will not be afraid.”

Book Review : the assassin and the underworld Sarah j maas

The Assassin and the Underworld (Throne of Glass, #0.4)The Assassin and the Underworld by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

September 3-8

When the King of the Assassins gives Celaena Sardothien a special assignment that will help fight slavery in the kingdom, she jumps at the chance to strike a blow against an evil practice. The mission is a dark and deadly affair which takes Celaena from the rooftops of the city to the bottom of the sewer–and she doesn’t like what she finds there.

Review – So this one was insane but I loved it I’M SHIPPING SO HARD . So Celaena is back and Arobyn has a new assignment . And she sees that Sam is live and well and they talk and he sees her new scar and is worried and then this new girl lysandra who is a prostitute I hated this girl so much cause she was into Sam and I wanted to punch her and Celaena hates this girl and she has this assignment to take down this guy who wants to take down slaves so she wants to take him down . And she asks Sam to help her . I love Sam and Celaena in this book cause she’s defiantly into him cause she’s always checking him out which I found funny and she gets taken and trapped in a sewer and I was sobbing even though I knew she wasn’t going to die the scene with Sam and her when he was trying to get her out ugh so much . And when they were at that party oh god Sam he’s trying to keep her away and she goes up to the guy that she’s suppose to kill who is a total sleaze. Sam gets her that music she loved which was so sweet . And when they were back in the sewer he tells her he’s leaving for good and she doesn’t want him to he ends up telling her he loves her and she kisses him eeeeek oh my god amazing . So they get ready to take down this guy and there is allot we didn’t know and I felt was missing when this was going to down so Celaena got the files and she kills the guy but the partner runs and the bodyguard who tried to kill Celaena tells her this guy loved his country and it didn’t make sense and it turns out Aroybyn tricked Celeana and this guy was trying to protect the slaves WTF THAT ASSHOLE she paid off her dept and Sam’s and she moved out this was a great novella onto the last one .
I loved Sam and Celaena in this one

Quotes-
Please don’t go.”
He let out an uneven breath. “You’ll be fine without me. You always have been.”
Maybe once, but not now. “How can I convince you to stay?”
“You can’t.”
She threw down the torch. “Do you want me to beg, is that it?”
“No-never.”
“Then tell me-”
“What more can I say?” he exploded, his whisper rough and harsh “I’ve already told you everything—I’ve already told you that if I stay here, if I have to live with Arobynn, I’ll snap his damned neck.”
“But why? Why can’t you let it go?”
He grabbed her shoulders and shook her. “Because I love you!”
Her mouth fell open.
“I love you,” he repeated, shaking her again. “I have for years. And he hurt you and made me watch because he’s always known how I felt, too. But if I asked you to pick, you’d choose Arobynn, and I. Can’t. Take. It.”
The only sounds were their breathing, an uneven beat against the rushing of the sewer river.
“You’re a damned idiot,” she breathed, grabbing the front of his tunic. “You’re a moron and an ass and a damned idiot.” He looked like she had hit him. But she went on, and grasped both sides of his face, “Because I’d pick you.”
And then she kissed him.

I hate to admit it , Sam Cortland , but I missed your sorry ass , too.

Book Review: the assassin and the Desert sarah j . Maas

The Assassin and the Desert (Throne of Glass, #0.3)The Assassin and the Desert by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

August 31-September 3

The Silent Assassins of the Red Desert aren’t much for conversation, and Celaena Sardothien wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s not there to chatter, she’s there to hone her craft as the world’s most feared killer for hire. When the quiet is shattered by forces who want to destroy the Silent Assassins, Celaena must find a way to stop them, or she’ll be lucky to leave the desert alive

Review- This novella wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed the story Celaena must go to the silent master to train with him and get the letter of approval . When she gets there she meets a girl who is going to be her roommate for a month Ansel I felt something was off about her she has a very dark past but her and Celaena start to become friends .When her and Ansel have to go on a trip they end up steeling horses . The master finally agrees to train her , Celena has been thinking of Sam and how Aroben beat her . At this dance thing that they were having she dances with the masters son and when he was about to kiss her she couldn’t do it cause of sam I ship them so bad to bad I know what happens stupid spoilers 😦 but in the end Ansel turns out to be evil and drugs Celena and she figures it out she ended up killing Mickal and the masters son was inured it comes to a fight to the death and she doesn’t kill Ansel she lets her go . The master gives her the letter and some gold to pay off Aroben I hate that guy so much it was a great story onto the next one .
Quotes-
Words could be just as deadly as steel.”

If you can learn to endure pain, you can survive anything. Some people learn to embrace it—to love it. Some endure it through drowning it in sorrow, or by making themselves forget. Others turn it into anger. But Ansel let her pain become hate, and let it consume her until she became something else entirely—a person I don’t think she ever wished to be”

Well, he was certainly desirable-as desirable as Sam, maybe. Sam-when had she ever thought of him as desirable? He’d laugh until he died if ever knew she thought of him like that.

As the memory of that day echoed through her, she remembered the words Sam kept screaming at Arobynn, as the King of the Assassins beat her, the words that she’d somehow forgotten in the fog of pain: I’ll kill you! Sam had said it like he meant it. He’d bellowed it, again and again and again…”

Book Review: the assassin and the healer Sarah J. Maas

The Assassin and the Healer (Throne of Glass, #0.2)The Assassin and the Healer by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

August 27-30

Meet the Assassin: beautiful, defiant, destined for greatness. Celaena Sardothien has challenged her master. Now she must pay the price. Her journey to the Red Desert will be an arduous one, but it may change the fate of her cursed world forever..

Review- Celena meets a healer Irvine after being punished after the pirate fiasco and she has no idea what’s happened to Sam but at this inn she meets Irvine who is a healer I loved this story it was more interesting hearing about the healer and Irvine’s mother was killed and saved Irvine . Ivrine was attacked and Celena saved her and then taught her how to fight which she ends up having to use when one of the guys comes back but she faught well . Celena left Irvine money so she could go anywhere this was an interesting story I enjoyed it .And of course Celena was a bassass fighting all those men .

Quotes-
“The girl wore her scars the way some women wore their finest jewelry.”

Let me give you a bit of advice.’ the girl said bitterly, ‘from one working girl to another; life isn’t easy, no matter where you are. You’ll make choices you think are right and then suffer for them.’ Those remarkable eyes flickered. ‘So if you’re going to be miserable, you might as well go to Antica and be miserable in the shadow of the Torre Cesme.”

Book Review: the assassin and the pirate lord sarah j . Maas

The Assassin and the Pirate Lord (Throne of Glass, #0.1)The Assassin and the Pirate Lord by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary- On a remote island in a tropical sea, Celaena Sardothien, feared assassin, has come for retribution. She’s been sent by the Assassin’s Guild to collect on a debt they are owed by the Lord of the Pirates. But when Celaena learns that the agreed payment is not in money, but in slaves, her mission suddenly changes—and she will risk everything to right the wrong she’s been sent to bring about.

Review- I haven’t read throne of glass but I’m so excited to after reading this Celaena is a badass . Celaena and Sam have to collect slaves from a pirate which Celaena is against and plans to free them . Sam and her don’t get along very well but they work together to free the slaves . They trick Rolf but it doesn’t work out well he catches them but Sam runs and Celana knocks him out and revels herself to be a sixteen year old girl which shocks the pirate. But the Slaves get away but is Sam safe I wasn’t to sure but she makes Rolf sign this paper saying he won’t allow slaves she finds sam they hug great ending I loved this story .

Quotes-
He couldn’t be dead. Not from the dagger, or those dozen pirates, or from the catapult. No, Sam couldn’t be so stupid that he’d get himself killed. She’d… she’d… Well she’d kill him if he was dead.”

She lifted her chin. “I’ve been shouting for you.”
Sam shrugged, sauntering over to her. “I figured you could wait a few minutes, given that I saved the day and all.” His brows rose high on his ash-covered face.
“Some hero.” She gestured to the ruin of the tower around them. “I’ve never seen such sloppy work”

Sam smiled, his brown eyes turning golden in the dawn. It was such a Sam look, the twinkle of mischief, the hint of exasperation, the kindness that would always, always make him a better person than she was.”

Book Review: The last Olympian Rick Riordan

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

January 6- August 7

Summary- All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.

In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.

Review – This was a great finale to the series I loved this book so we start off with Rachel and Percy and then we see Blackjack and Becondorf and they go on the princess amdromna and of course Becondorf sacrifices himself and dies . And then Percy sees Tyson and his father and who looks terrible and then Percy goes back to camp . And Percy has to tell everyone that Becondorf didn’t make it even the guys girlfriend and Selena . This book had allot of funny lines even with all the death and Percy gets to hear his prophecy finally what I wanted to yell at percy about is he didn’t get why Annabeth was always so mad at him cause she likes you idiot and your talking to another girl if I was her I’d probably punch percy into understanding . So Percy and Nico go and Nico tricks him and he goes to see his dad ugh Nico but he gets out. And the war is starting and everyone from camp but the aries cabin is there cause clarise was being stupid and doesn’t want to fight . And Percy is having all these dreams and rachel writes his name in greek and she goes to see percy and NYC is asleep . And Rachel tells that he isn’t the hero that someone else is so there fighting all these monsters and percy took a swim in the river styx and he thought about Annabeth and when they were on the bridge Annabeth got poisoned she was fine in all and I loved when Percy and Annabeth would just talk and she would just wanted to talk about them but Percy wouldn’t get it . And then Percy was trying to get his dad to help out and he did eventually and I loved his parents helped out his mom fired a shot gun and his step dad stabbed a monster . And we find out who the spy is it’s Selena I didn’t see it coming she died going against a drakon . And she was posing as Clarise and the aries campers do come and Clariese was crying cause they were friends and then comes the big fight with Kronos . and Annabeth gets Luke to come out of him and he is like did you love me and she’s I loved you like a brother . there was a ton of other stuff in this book with Lukes mom she lost her mind she tried to be the oracal but didn’t know that it was cursed by Hades . Luke ends up killing himself Poseidon shows up and helps out and then they go to olympus and Percy is offered to be a god but he turns it down he is like you are gods this shouldn’t of happened if you were more involved in your children’s lives so that’s what there going to do and build more cabins for more of the gods awesome and Rachel becomes the oracal . so percy and Annabeth talk and he’s trying to tell her his feeling for him and she kisses him awwww and then everyone is like finally and they have an underwater kiss this book was so great it was a great finale and I loved this series so much Percy and Annabeth eeek.

Favorite quotes
“She raised an eyebrow. “You got something to say to me, Seaweed Brain?”

You’d probably kick my butt.”

You know I’d kick your butt.”

I brushed the cake off my hands. “When I was at the River Styx, turning invulnerable . . . Nico said I had to concentrate on one thing that kept me anchored to the world, that made me want to stay mortal.”

Annabeth kept her eyes on the horizon. “Yeah?”

Then up on Olympus,” I said, “when they wanted to make me a god and stuff, I kept thinking-”

Oh, you so wanted to.”

Well, maybe a little. But I didn’t, because I thought-I didn’t want things to stay the same for eternity, because things could always get better. And I was thinking . . .” My throat felt really dry.

Anyone in particular?” Annabeth asked, her voice soft.

I looked over and saw that she was trying not to smile.

You’re laughing at me,” I complained.

I am not!”

You are so not making this easy.”

Then she laughed for real, and she put her hands
around my neck. “I am never, ever going to make things easy for you, Seaweed Brain. Get used to it.”

The throne rumbled. A wave of gale-force anger slammed into me.
WHO DARES-
The voice stopped abruptly, The anger retreated, which was a good thing, because just those two words had almost blasted my mind to shreds.
Percy. My fathers voice was still angry but more controlled. What-exactly-are you doing on my throne?
“I’m sorry, Father,” I said. “I needed to get your attention.”
This was a very dangerous thing to do. Even for you. If I hadn’t looked before I blasted, you would now be a puddle of seawater.”

The Council agrees,” Zeus said. “Percy Jackson, you will have one gift from the gods.”
I hesitated. “Any gift?”
Zeus nodded grimly. “I know what you will ask. The greatest gift of all. Yes, if you want it, it shall be yours. The gods have not bestowed this gift on a mortal hero in many centuries, but, Perseus Jackson-if you wish it-you shall be made a god. Immortal. Undying. You shall serve as your father’s lieutenant for all time.”
I stared at him, stunned. “Um…a god?”
Zeus rolled his eyes. “A dimwitted god, apparently. But yes. With the consensus of the entire Council, I can make you immortal. Then I will have to put up with you forever.”
“Hmm,” Ares mused. “That means I can smash him to a pulp as often as I want, and he’ll just keep coming back for more. I like this idea.”

Book review – Black Butterfly by Robert M . Drake
The Black Butterfly is a symbol of transformation and rebirth after death. Drake wrote this book for those who have lost someone in death and in life. This book is a collection of memories and experiences Drake lived after the death of one of his brothers. He promised he would write him a few words after he failed to complete the task while his brother was alive. This book is everything… this book is for all who are breathing and for all who are no longer here. This book is for you.

I loved   Robert  M .  Drake’s    writing     I connected  with   allot of the poems  I highly  recommend   you  read   them
