Book Review: one true loves Taylor Jenkins Reid

One True LovesOne True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Feb 15- 21

In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever.

Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly?

Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

Review : This book had me sobbing Emma goes through a lot I loved that it goes into the past and present so we know how it starts . Emma and Jesse relationship they love each other they love travel but then Jesse goes missing and is believed to be dead. three years have past and she is looking to play piano and sees sam who worked at Emma’s parents bookshop and he liked Emma back in high school and they agree to go on a date and everything with them is great they get each other . Emma is the manager of the bookstore and she’s happy and her and Sam are engaged . But then Jesse is found and things are really complicated Sam tells her she needs to work out what she had with Jesse and decide and she does they go away together and they are so different now this situation is so complicated and I was crying a lot in this book . But Emma picks Sam she explains to Jeesse that they are different and she loves Sam. She goes back home and goes to Sam they get married this book was beautiful.

quotes :

When you love someone, it seeps out of everything you do, it bleeds into everything you say, it becomes so ever-present, that eventually it becomes ordinary to hear, no matter how extraordinary it is to feel.”

There is other love out there for me. But it’s different. It isn’t this. It isn’t this exact love. It’s better and it’s worse. But I guess that’s sort of the point of love between two people—you can’t re-create it. Every time you love, everyone you love, the love is different. You’re different in it

don’t think that true love means your only love.

I think true love means loving truly.

Loving purely. Loving wholly.

Maybe, if you’re the kind of person who’s willing to give all of yourself, the kind of person who is willing to love with all of your heart even though you’ve experienced just how much it can hurt . . . maybe you get lots of true loves, then. Maybe that’s the gift you get for being brave.”

Book Review: The bookshop on the corner Jenny Colgan

The Bookshop on the CornerThe Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dec 30- Feb 18
Nina Redmond is a librarian with a gift for finding the perfect book for her readers. But can she write her own happy-ever-after? In this valentine to readers, librarians, and book-lovers the world over, the New York Times-bestselling author of Little Beach Street Bakery returns with a funny, moving new novel for fans of Meg Donohue, Sophie Kinsella, and Nina George’s The Little Paris Bookshop.

Nina Redmond is a literary matchmaker. Pairing a reader with that perfect book is her passion… and also her job. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more.

Determined to make a new life for herself, Nina moves to a sleepy village many miles away. There she buys a van and transforms it into a bookmobile—a mobile bookshop that she drives from neighborhood to neighborhood, changing one life after another with the power of storytelling.

From helping her grumpy landlord deliver a lamb, to sharing picnics with a charming train conductor who serenades her with poetry, Nina discovers there’s plenty of adventure, magic, and soul in a place that’s beginning to feel like home… a place where she just might be able to write her own happy ending.

Review : I recommend this book to anyone who is a book lover . This is about Nina and she’s a librarian and she loves loves books but the library is changing and Nina goes to Scotland to start a bookstore van which is such a cool idea .Nina goes through a lot she has a grumpy landlord , almost gets killed by a train , delivers a lamb which was awesome. she hires a teenager who has a lot of family problems . The situation with her and the train guy just seemed sketchy turns out he has a son and girlfriend WTF. Her and Lenox start getting closer and end up having sex but he has a crazy almost ex wife but they deal with it. They are cute together I really enjoyed this book.
quotes :

Books were the best way Nina knew – apart from, sometimes, music – to breach the barrier; to connect the internal universe with the external, the words acting merely as a conduit between the two worlds.”

Because every day with a book is slightly better than one without, and I wish you nothing but the happiest of days. Now,”

There was a universe inside every human being every bit as big as the universe outside them. Books were the best way Nina knew – apart from, sometimes, music – to breach the barrier, to connect the internal universe with the external, the words acting merely as a conduit between the two worlds.”

Some people buried their fears in food, she knew, and some in booze, and some in planning elaborate engagements and weddings and other life events that took up every spare moment of their time, in case unpleasant thoughts intruded. But for Nina, whenever reality, or the grimmer side of reality, threatened to invade, she always turned to a book. Books had been her solace when she was sad; her friends when she was lonely. They had mended her heart when it was broken, and encouraged her to hope when she was down. Yet”

Nemeses! Dragons! Science! Symbolism! All these and more await in this brilliantly subversive, sharply irreverent epic from Noelle Stevenson. Featuring an exclusive epilogue not seen in the web comic, along with bonus conceptual sketches and revised pages throughout, this gorgeous full-color graphic novel is perfect for the legions of fans of the web comic and is sure to win Noelle many new ones.

Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren’t the heroes everyone thinks they are.

But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona’s powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.

Review : I had heard this graphic novel was good but it was really good I loved it. I read it with the audiobook which made the experience way better .This is about Nimona who is a shapeshifter who is working with a super vilian this graphic novel was crazy cause there may be more to her powers that blackheart doesnt know and the prince is an interesting character I really enjoyed this book I recommend it.

Checkmate: This is Beautiful (Logan & Kayla, #2; Checkmate Duet, #6)Checkmate: This is Beautiful by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jan 14-15

Kayla Sinclair is a saint and real life Angel.
She wears her heart on her sleeve and inspires me to be a better person.
Rescuing dogs, feeding the homeless, volunteering at the local food pantry are just a few of the ways she gives back to others, although no one has ever been there for her.
Falling for her was inevitable, losing her will destroy me.

Letting someone in didn’t come easy, but she made me want to try for the first time in years.
Her bubbling personality and kind spirit make it impossible to forget a girl like her.
But when tragedy strikes and she loses all memory that our relationship ever existed, my worst nightmare comes to life.

I’ll do anything to remind her of the love we shared. I know it’ll be an uphill battle, but I won’t walk away without a fight. Whoever said all is fair in love and war never played by my rules.

Checkmate, Angel.

Review :The series has ended I loved this series so much in the last book Kayla has lost her memory and it was really hard for her and Logan cause she doesnt remember him and I felt so bad for Logan cause hes so in love with her but she doesnt remember him and they try to make it work but its not working so he ends it . Kayla ends up quiting her job and is planning on starting a no kill animal shelter and one night when she was out with her friends she sees Logans daughter and it triggers her memory and she remembers everything and she goes to logan but his daughters mother answers the door but Logan finds Kayla and they get back together.Kayla has been through a lot through the years and she deserves to be happy. Logan proposes to kayla on Christmas which is her birthday and in the future courntey and her are both pregnant I loved the ending of this series.

quotes :

Kayla Adele Sinclair, will you make me the happiest fucking man in the world and marry me?”

“I remember,” I tell them. “I remember everything.”

Did I really send you a text message about my bleeding uterus and wanting to eat a glazed donut off your dick?”

“I know you don’t remember me, Angel, but just know I love you deeply and nothing will ever change that.”

Jan 13-14
Logan Knight is a real life knight in shining armor.
A detective godsend in a sleek black suit has me thinking less than secretive thoughts. Brooding and mysterious, he’s the kind of guy every girl instantly notices. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it’s no wonder I can’t help the way he makes me feel whenever I’m near him.
Too bad he’s unavailable—or so he says.

He thinks I’m a do-gooder who shouldn’t get involved with a guy like him. His past is messy and relationships just add to that. He insists the timing is all wrong and he’s devoted to his career, but I don’t buy that excuse for a second. I see the way his body tenses and his jaw ticks every time another guy is around me. He just won’t admit it, but I’m more determined than ever to show him what he’s missing.

I’m a devoted animal rescuer and I’ll risk everything to save them, but when a dramatic turn of events puts both our lives at risk, I’m positive Logan will write me off for good. But when he asks for my help with a personal crisis, I know it’s my last chance to finally show him I can handle anything he throws my way—messy past and all.

He might think he has me all figured out, but I’ll prove him wrong no matter what he thinks. This game of push and pull has me running in circles. One wrong move and we could both lose.

Checkmate, Knight.

review : I loved this book and the ending was crazy so this is about Logan and kayla who are friends of Draw and Courtney . kayla has been into Logan for awhile but hes told her he cant date anyone and the reason is cause he has a daughter and hes her number one. But Logan and kayla are great friends one day when kayla is on a date and Logan sees she isnt having a great time and goes to help her and they end up kissing .And this happens a few times in this book and every time he would pull away even when she was on a date. But he finally gives in and they start dating and everything is going great until a drug bust Logan is working on kayla ends up showing up for some reason and she falls and hits her head and when she wakes up she doesnt remember logan .
quotes:

and fuck, I hate when he flashes that smile. It’s a panty-melting smile

You’re like my real-life Knight in shining armor.”

Sorry to hear about your lady troubles. Hopefully chocolates and flowers cheer you up! -Logan P.S. I think you meant to text Courtney

I’d like to eat my glazed donut right off his cock and then some.

I can’t deny the fact that I’m a little flattered yet shocked at the moment. Mostly because she thinks a glazed donut would fit around my shaft. It wouldn’t by the way.

That you’re telling people a glazed donut could fit around my shaft. I mean, that’s not exactly a compliment, so I should get to prove myself otherwise.”

I’ll only judge you if it’s something ridiculous like being Team Feylin or something.” His cheeks nearly touch his ears by the loud laughter that roars from his throat. “Well for the record, I’d be Team Feysand.” I laugh, appreciating that he knew what I was talking about. “Don’t know whether I’m concerned or
impressed that you know the ACOTAR series.

“I love you, Kayla.” He presses a soft kiss against my lips. Leaning his forehead against mine, he releases a breath. “I love you so much.” Butterflies swarm my belly at his sincere tone. His words leave me breathless, but somehow, I find my voice. I look up into his eyes and smile. “I love you, too.”

You’re a big part of my world now, Kayla. Don’t you ever forget that

Book Review: This is effortless Kennedy fox

This Is Effortless (Checkmate Duet, #4; Drew & Courtney, #2)This Is Effortless by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Courtney Bishop is as sugary sweet as her famous blueberry muffins.
Southern belle at heart, Cali girl by choice.
She barged into my life and easily became my best friend.
All was great as roommates and just friends, but then I fell for the girl who could chop firewood, deliver baby calves, and bail hay without breaking a sweat.
She’s the perfect mixture of sugar and spice, and I love her.

Being more than friends and trying to build our future isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Moving forward and creating memories is all I want for us, but when the past continues to come back and haunt me, I’m not so sure she’ll stay for the ride.

Loving her is easy, but losing her will break me. Burning passion combined with an undeniable chemistry constantly pushes and pulls us together. In the end, I’ll prove we’re worth the fight, even when the game is far from over.

Checkmate, sweetheart.

Review : Since finishing all the books in the series I can’t pick a favorite couple or guy I love them all equally . This book was really good and I didn’t know how much crazy Mia could get but she was off the rocker . I love Courtney and Drew as a couple they are freaking adorable they end up getting a dog together who was also another one of my favorite characters he’s super adorable and after the crazy bitch sends a video . Courtney was freaking out she wanted to stay somewhere else that night but Drew says they should find a place together . And they go to to Texas for Courtney’s cousin’s baby shower and Drew ends up working with Courtney brothers on the farm and he was like half dead after . Courtney has to go on a trip for her job and she’s going with her coworker and Drew goes to meet with Logan and he shows who had taken Courtney in Vegas and it was the coworker and he knows Mia and he fucking drugs . Drew is rushing to get to her and does and then they get into this car crash and Mia dies . Drew ends up proposing it was freaking cute loved this book.

Quote:
Drew Fisher, I knew you and all your quirks long before I fell in love with you.”

So…” I walk over to Drew and run my finger up his chest. He places a finger over my lips with a smirk. “Not in front of the fur kid.”

“I never knew a dog could be a cock-blocker.

He’s not going to care what you pick,” Drew tells me, and I gracefully disagree. “It can’t be something loud with explosions. What about this? Antique road Show.” “Sure, so when we get back he’ll be able to price all of our prized possessions.”

He shoves his hands in his pockets and chooses his words carefully. “Remind me to never get into a fist fight with any of your brothers. If they work this hard every day, well, they’d all be able to kick my ass.” “Why do you think every guy my age was scared off by them?

So, you’ll just have to keep Mr. Happy in your pants for now.” “Mr. Happy, do you hear that? We’re being rejected.”

The little brown one is Philip, the big black one is Adam, and the mix is Kristoff,” she answers with a smile. I continue petting them before it hits me. “Oh my God.” I laugh. “You named them after Disney Prince’s, didn’t you?” “Duh. I needed some romance in my life.”

You can’t jump up here every time you hear her scream, Buddy,” I tell him. “Especially when she’s screaming my name later tonight.” “Oh my God!” She blushes. “Don’t tell him that!”

“Sometimes in order to get the guy, you’ve got to create your own rules to win the game of love.”

Book Review: Twelve days of Christmas Debbie Macomber

Twelve Days of ChristmasTwelve Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

December 18-23

In a festive annual tradition, #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber returns with another original holiday novel full of romance and cheer. This time around, a plucky young woman clashes with a real-life Scrooge—her grouchy, arrogant, annoyingly handsome neighbor—and tries to get even the only way she knows how: by killing him with kindness.

Review : this book was a perfect Christmas read for me this book is about Julia and her grumpy neighbor to get this job Julia needs to write a popular blog so her best friend suggests that she kill him with kindness so up until Christmas she kills him with kindness until they start to get along and more than she though she actually likes the guy but then he finds out the blog and is hurt and mad and won’t talk to her . she ends up inviting his grandfather over for Christmas dinner and he ends up having to go to the hospital so Julia comes along and they make up this book just is a perfect Christmas read.

quotes :

Kill him with kindness

He rarely allowed anyone to get close, and for good reason. It seemed every time he did, he regretted it.

“He took your newspaper; he didn’t threaten to bury you in concrete.”

Cain Maddox, you have a sense of humor.

Merry Christmas, Cain.” He held her gaze and then muttered, “Bah humbug.

Think you’re wrong about that,” Bernie said with a thoughtful look. “He’s attracted to you, but knowing my grandson, he’s fighting it tooth and nail

That boy hasn’t got a romantic bone in his body. He probably thought he was giving you a compliment.”

If he didn’t kiss her soon, she was going to reach for his lapels and jerk him close and do it herself. Just when she was about to stand on the tips of her toes and kiss him, Cain leaned down and captured her mouth. His kiss was exactly how she’d imagined. Her entire body swayed toward him and he wrapped his arms around her in a hold that half lifted her from the ground. Julia’s arms slipped around his neck as she gave herself over to him. The kiss was intense and deep: a mingling of passion, need, want, desire, and longing. It went on for what seemed like several moments. When they broke apart, they both swayed as if their entire world had made a shift…and for Julia it had. This was above and beyond anything she could ever have predicted. Cain pressed his forehead against hers. “I knew you’d taste like heaven.” His words felt like warm honey. “You’re going to be addictive, aren’t you?” he murmured. “I…I don’t know…maybe…I’d like it if I were.” With everything in her, she hoped what he said was true. “One taste will never be enough.” She grazed her lips over his in a near kiss, enjoying the freedom to tease him. His arms remained around her. Her own were tucked about his waist. “You still going to buy me coffee in the morning?” “My word is good.” “Mine, too.”

Congratulations, sweetheart.” Sweetheart? She froze, her breath trapped in her lungs. “Did you just call me sweetheart?” “Did I?

You get a puppy but want to wait on a baby?” Bernie shook his head. “You sure you know what you’re doing, boy?”

Book Review: Things im seeing without you Peter Bognanni

Things I'm Seeing Without YouThings I’m Seeing Without You by Peter Bognanni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

October 29- December 11

Seventeen-year-old Tess Fowler has just dropped out of high school. She can barely function after learning of Jonah’s death. Jonah, the boy she’d traded banter with over texts and heartfelt e-mails.

Jonah, the first boy she’d told she loved and the first boy to say it back.

Jonah, the boy whose suicide she never saw coming.

Tess continues to write to Jonah, as a way of processing her grief and confusion. But for now she finds solace in perhaps the unlikeliest of ways: by helping her father with his new alternative funeral business, where his biggest client is . . . a prized racehorse?

As Tess’s involvement in her father’s business grows, both find comfort in the clients they serve and in each other. But love, loss, and life are so much more complicated than Tess ever thought. Especially after she receives a message that turns her life upside down.

Review : This book was beautiful and sad Tess’s boyfriend Jonah killed himself and she’s not doing very well she’s dropped out of school moved in with her dad and then she finds out to the end of Jonah’s end that his roommate was msg her which she was hurt about . Her dad and her are doing this special funeral business and Jonah’s roommate vists her and they talk and decide to plan Jonah’s funeral . This book made me cry cause it talked about anxiety and I could relate and if you’ve ever lost someone you should read this book . They end up in italy and do Jonahs funeral which made me cry and the roomate and tess part ways and start writing letters it was beautiful.

Quotes: You can’t just run away from your grief . you have to deal with it head on . no matter how difficult and strange it is . we both took a drink of coffee. There are no shortcuts she said . you have to do the hard stuff before it gets any easier.

I want you to take your picture and send it to me
Its a little dark
Turn on a light , genius
Should I send it to you now
I’m going to hang up , I said , and then you’re going to send it to me . But there’s one last thing .
What ?
I want you to be naked in the picture .
More silence
Its only fair . I think you know that .
I didn’t wait for a response . I just ended the call. And I fully expected that he would call right back and try to argue his way out of it . But he didn’t do that . And as time passed at this rate about an hour per second, I wondered maybe if it was better if he didn’t do it
It would give me a chance to break contact , to prove that he never really wanted to be on even ground with me .
What does a true liar do , after all , when you ask him to stand naked .

so what’s the point of what we do ? I asked if we can’t provide that.
Well… He said . He handed me a napkin for my tears. Maybe part of its just to reaffirm to people.
Reaffirm what ?
He looked away and scratched his chin , covered in black and gray stubble . Then he met my eyes again , and for once he didnt look like a sad clown . He looked serious .
that we don’t need as much closure as we think we do .

I’m scared that I don’t matter , even a little bit and no one matters and nothing matters . I’m scared that it all matters and I’m fucking it up . I’m scared I’m living my short short life wrong in every possible way . I’m scared I’ve already made so many mistakes and I dont have enough time to fix them . I’m scared I won’t die with the slightest amount of dignity ,like on the toilet or watching bravo . I’m scared no one will care when I do . I’m scared that the only person I ever loved wasn’t real . I’m scared I will never get over him . And I’m scared I’m making the same mistake again.
