Nobody knows Dee’s the Seeker, and she plans to keep it that way. When another little girl goes missing, and the case is linked to Sibby’s disappearance, Dee has a chance to get answers, with the help of her virtual detectives and the intriguing new girl at school. Then something happens another girl goes missing and she lived in the house Dee lived in when Sibby went missing. A new girl moves across Dee house Sarah she tells Dee she’s a fan of this podcast and they get closer and Sarah finds out Dee runs the podcast. Dee gets an email that someone might of seen Sibby and Dee talks to this girl and she tells Dee there was this guy who ran this farm and it’s mostly a cult . Dee sees a photo and it’s sandy Burke uncle ex girlfriend who was obsessed with Sibby . Sarah and Dee run to the neighbors house and they find Sibby and Dee runs in the woods and she makes an anoucement to her radio silence listeners and they help her out . The other missing girl the father kept her hidden to get money. I really enjoyed this story . In the end sibby and Dee are going to talk to that reporter that Dee trusts they are going to tell their story.

Book Review: Asylum Madeleine Roux

Asylum (Asylum, #1)

Asylum by Madeleine Roux

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

October 26-29

Asylum is a thrilling and creepy photo-novel perfect for fans of the New York Times bestseller Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

For sixteen-year-old Dan Crawford, New Hampshire College Prep is more than a summer program—it’s a lifeline. An outcast at his high school, Dan is excited to finally make some friends in his last summer before college. But when he arrives at the program, Dan learns that his dorm for the summer used to be a sanatorium, more commonly known as an asylum. And not just any asylum—a last resort for the criminally insane.

As Dan and his new friends, Abby and Jordan, explore the hidden recesses of their creepy summer home, they soon discover it’s no coincidence that the three of them ended up here. Because the asylum holds the key to a terrifying past. And there are some secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Featuring found photos of unsettling history and real abandoned asylums and filled with chilling mystery and page-turning suspense, Madeleine Roux’s teen debut, Asylum, is a horror story that treads the line between genius and insanity.

Review : I really enjoyed this book it was a bit slow in the beginning but it was an enjoyable spooky book for the Halloween season. This is about Dan he’s in this college program he meets some new friends Jordan and Abby things start to be going well for Dan but they decided to search in this old basement at their program see the college use to be an old asylum . Dan starts having weird dreams and he’s been receiving weird letters and then someone was murdered and another guy was injured this old serial killer the skulpter Dan thinks its him but he’s apparently dead . Dan was looking into him and even asked this guy a Townie who did a article about the skulpter but he freaked out due to Dan name cause apparently maybe Dan’s relative was involved with the asylum and use to do experiments. It turns out Felix his roommate was the killer but this place was causing him to act crazy very weird but I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

The Perfect Marriage

The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Aug 14-16
Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. As a named partner at her firm, life is going exactly how she planned. The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He’s a struggling writer who has had little success in his career and he tires of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working. Out in the secluded woods, at the couple’s lakehouse, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers. But one morning everything changes. Kelly is found brutally stabbed to death and now, Sarah must take on her hardest case yet, defending her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress. The Perfect Marriage is a juicy, twisty, and utterly addictive thriller that will keep you reading all night long.

Review Contains Spoilers

Review: This book was insane I couldn’t stop reading it . Sarah is a powerful lawyer married to a writer their marriage doesn’t seem to be a happy one Sarah is the breadwinner of the house and Adam is still working on being a writer he ends up having an affair with Kelly who is married to an abusive cop . Adam comes back from their lakehouse and he was going to leave Sarah until sarah decided she was ready for a baby. But then things happen . Adam is being accused of killing his mistress and Sarah is representing him as his lawyer wow . As things start to happen we find out the mistress was pregnant. The main sherif was very suspicious like one minute he was flirty with Sarah and then he was being a dick . I was trying to figure out who could of had motive to kill kelly was it her abusive husband or was it Adam . Anne Sarah’s asstaint took photos of Adam cheating but didn’t tell Sarah and then there is Bob who is the brother of Kelly’s first husband. The verdit comes they got the third DNA from Kelly autopsy it was the sheriff’s Kelly was sleepingwith him to . 11 years later Adam is about to be put to death sarah visits him for the last time. In the end Sarah and Bob worked together to kill kelly and frame Adam. I really didn’t see that coming . I had a few problems with the book the characters were very shallow and not very likeable I still recommend it if it you can get past that.

Book Review : Eight perfect murders Peter Swanson

Eight Perfect Murders (Malcolm Kershaw, #1)

Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

April 15-18

“Fiendish good fun.” —Anthony Horowitz

From the hugely talented author of Before She Knew Him comes a chilling tale of psychological suspense and an homage to the thriller genre tailor-made for fans: the story of a bookseller who finds himself at the center of an FBI investigation because a very clever killer has started using his list of fiction’s most ingenious murders.

Years ago, bookseller and mystery aficionado Malcolm Kershaw compiled a list of the genre’s most unsolvable murders, those that are almost impossible to crack—which he titled “Eight Perfect Murders”—chosen from among the best of the best including Agatha Christie’s A. B. C. Murders, Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train, Ira Levin’s Death Trap, A. A. Milne’s Red House Mystery, Anthony Berkeley Cox’s Malice Aforethought, James M. Cain’s Double Indemnity, John D. Macdonald’s The Drowner, and Donna Tartt’s A Secret History.

But no one is more surprised than Mal, now the owner of the Old Devils Bookstore in Boston, when an FBI agent comes knocking on his door one snowy day in February. She’s looking for information about a series of unsolved murders that look eerily similar to the killings on Mal’s old list. And the FBI agent isn’t the only one interested in this bookseller who spends almost every night at home reading. There is killer is out there, watching his every move—a diabolical threat who knows way too much about Mal’s personal history, especially the secrets he’s never told anyone, even his recently deceased wife.

To protect himself, Mal begins looking into possible suspects . . . and sees a killer in everyone around him. But Mal doesn’t count on the investigation leaving a trail of death in its wake. Suddenly, a series of shocking twists leaves more victims dead—and the noose around Mal’s neck grows so tight he might never escape.

Review: This book was awesome it was definitely a Rollercoaster of a book this book is about Mal who owns a mystery bookstore and one day the FBI need to ask him some questions about a list he made years ago for the site called eight perfect murders and there have been murders following his list and they need to find out who is doing it and it may be someone Mal knows. Mal has a past know one knows about he hired someone to do a strangers on the train murder he would kill the person they want and they would kill the person Mal wants . Man’s wife was a drug addict and was cheating on him and she got killed in a car crash but he wanted the man dead so that’s where this other guy who is now killing others comes in . Mal must find out who it is. He asks his former cop friend to look into a guy who he thinks did it but then he goes to see the guy who he thinks is the killer but he turns up dead also . Then he goes to his friend and part owner of the bookstore Brian and Tess’s house I was so sure it was Tess but she just wanted to sleep with Mal it was Marty the cop he got a taste of killing after killing the guy Mal wanted him to kill but Mal kills him then calls Gwen and tells her everything and then leaves to kill himself I wasn’t fond of the ending but other than that I loved this book.

Quotes : Books are time travel. True readers all know this. But books don’t just take you back to the time in which they were written; they can take you back to different versions of yourself.

I ran my thumb along the edge of the book, riffling the pages, and that musty, prickly smell of an old paperback reached my nostrils. I’ve always loved that smell,

We never get the whole truth, not from anybody. When we first meet someone, before words are ever spoken, there are already lies and half-truths. The clothes we wear cover the truth of our bodies, but they also present who we want to be to the world. They are fabrications, figuratively and literally.

Quotes :
As always , Lindsey felt all her trouble ease once she was back among the familiar. Just seeing the names on the spines of the books was like calling hello to old friends.

Road trips required a couple of things: a well-balanced diet of caffeine, salt and sugar and an excellent selection of tunes—oh, and directions.”

“It was funny how none of her classes in library science has prepared her for this sort of thing, dead bodies, staff under suspicion, crazed reporters. Really, they needed to consider expanding the curriculum.

Book Review: Sadie Courtney Summers

Sadie

Sadie by Courtney Summers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

October 27-November 28

A missing girl on a journey of revenge and a Serial-like podcast following the clues she’s left behind.

Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him.

When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.

Courtney Summers has written the breakout book of her career. Sadie is propulsive and harrowing and will keep you riveted until the last page.

Trigger warning pedophilia sexual assault
Review:
This book was a really interesting read I highly recommend the audiobook it was really highly produced .
So this book is told in two POV a podcast called the girls and Sadie’s point of view. Sadie’s younger sister maddie has been murdered and sadie knows who it was and wants to kill him . West the guy doing the podcast is trying to find out about sadie . Sadie finds out information about Keith who is really jack from a woman who dated him and left him cause of his interest. Sadie finds Marley brother silas but first she found his kids and a guy named Javi who she let herself for awhile like but then she stalks silas and finds some unsettling things and tells javi to call the police on him and he does get arrested thankfully. West is still finding out information about sadie and interviewing people she was using her middle name with people she was meeting . Sadie gets a motel room and finds this is a place Keith/jack stayed she has to get into that room so she does and she finds trofies from other girls hes abused with that she finds him and there was an altercation and I think we can guess what happened. West finds the last woman he was with Amanda and her daughter who was abused also jack is dead from an untreated stab wound probably from sadie . The ending yes it’s not satisfying but I think its realistic cause sometimes girls dont get found but I think we can guess jack killed sadie and he killed madie the DNA matched that so at least that was solved .

Quotes :
And it begins, as so many stories do, with a dead girl

But love is complicated, it’s messy. It can inspire selflessness, selfishness, our greatest accomplishments and our hardest mistakes. It brings us together and it can just as easily drive us apart.

I wish this was a love story. A love story about lovers whose mouths meet like two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly into place, about the electric feeling of one person’s name on the other’s tongue because no one has ever spoken them out loud like that before. About people who spend the night together looking at the stars until entire constellations exist within them. Everyone is perfect in that indistinct way most characters are and every perfectly constructed scene in their fictional lives is somehow more real than anything you’ve known or lived. Love stories, romances, leave a person secure in the knowledge they’ll end Happily Ever After and who wouldn’t want a story like that? I wish this was a love story because I know how it goes in one like mine, where the only moments of reprieve are the spaces between its lines. But here’s the thing I tell myself to dull the sharp edges of everything that’s surely left to come: The worst has already happened.

And Sadie, if you’re out there, please let me know. Because I can’t take another dead girl.”

Book Review: Truly Devious Maureen Johnson

Truly Devious (Truly Devious, #1)

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

October 1-26

Ellingham Academy is a famous private school in Vermont for the brightest thinkers, inventors, and artists. It was founded by Albert Ellingham, an early twentieth century tycoon, who wanted to make a wonderful place full of riddles, twisting pathways, and gardens. “A place,” he said, “where learning is a game.”

Shortly after the school opened, his wife and daughter were kidnapped. The only real clue was a mocking riddle listing methods of murder, signed with the frightening pseudonym “Truly, Devious.” It became one of the great unsolved crimes of American history.

True-crime aficionado Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at Ellingham Academy, and she has an ambitious plan: She will solve this cold case. That is, she will solve the case when she gets a grip on her demanding new school life and her housemates: the inventor, the novelist, the actor, the artist, and the jokester. But something strange is happening. Truly Devious makes a surprise return, and death revisits Ellingham Academy. The past has crawled out of its grave. Someone has gotten away with murder.

The two interwoven mysteries of this first book in the Truly Devious series dovetail brilliantly, and Stevie Bell will continue her relentless quest for the murderers in books two and three.

Review : I freaking loved this book it was a crazy book of twists and turns . This book is taken place in the present and in the past . Ellingham academy is where the Ellingham murders took place where Albert Ellingham family were taken and murdered. Stevie Bell is looking forward to coming to Ellingham to solve the murder. Her family doesn’t get stevie they work for a politician who Stevie doesn’t support. Stevie gets to the school she makes some friends she get suspicious of one guy David he doesn’t have any social media and he’s very secretive. Hayes a guy who got famous from a online zombie show he made asks stevie to work with him to make a show on the Ellingham murders and she agrees and has her friend Nate write for the show. Then something bad happens Hayes died a malfunction with dry ice or maybe something else happened. David and Stevie made out oh my God. Stevie goes through David’s stuff and he gets mad which I understand David tells Stevie his parents died . Stevie starts to figure out some stuff . Ellie might be involved with Hayes death . Ellie helped Hayes write his show and then she runs away and then someone shows up the politician that Stevie doesn’t support shows up cause David is his son what the fuck.

Quotes :

Albert Ellingham said knowledge was his religion and libraries were his church, so he built a church.”

Did they know that Arthur Conan Doyle went on to investigate mysteries in his real life and absolved a man for a crime for which he has been convicted? Did they know how Agatha Christie brilliantly staged her own disappearance in order to exact an elegant revenge on a cheating husband? They probably did not. And no one was going to discount Stevie Bell, who had gotten into this school on the wings of her interest in the Ellingham case, and who had been a bystander at a death that was now looking more and more suspicious.”

I annoy people,” he said. “Believe me. I’m aware. It’s an effective way to communicate if you don’t have any other options. If you can’t get in through the door, throw a rock through the window. And I think maybe you’re the same way.

But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods all those years ago—no matter how monstrous.

Mia goes to New York to visit owen they spend the day together and they kiss it was so cute .

Quotes:
That’s the thing about hearts. They don’t get put back together, not really. They just get patched. But the damage is still there.”

The problem with fairy tales isn’t that they don’t exist. It’s that they do exist, but only for some people.”

In books, secret worlds are accessible by doors or keys or other physical objects. But Lovelorn was not such a world, and appeared at whim and only when it felt like it, with a subtle change like the slow shifting of afternoon to evening.”

We Told Six Lies

We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

May 26-29
Remember how many lies we told, Molly? It’s enough to make my head spin. You were wild when I met you, and I was mad for you. But then something happened. And now you’re gone.

But don’t worry. I’ll find you. I just need to sift through the story of us to get to where you might be. I’ve got places to look, and a list of names.

The police have a list of names, too. See now? There’s another lie. There is only one person they’re really looking at, Molly.

And that’s yours truly.

Review : this book was fucking crazy and I loved it it’s about a boy and girl who tell lies but then the girl goes missing. Its told in three POV then ,now and molly . We are to believe that molly ran away but Cobain doesn’t believe that he believes she was taken and he has suspects. Molly was taken by a man who makes her call him blue he has a mask and she’s trying to manipulate him to let her go . No one believes Cobain when they think she was taken not even his brother who is coming around more often than usual. In the then part we learn molly’s dad con some people and got someone to kill himself and now hes in jail . I had some guesses on who took molly but I figured it out early on but I needed to know why. Cobain is finally taken in by the police they believe he took molly but he escapes and calls his brother then it hits him hes not there his brother holt died he killed him and it’s just his mind playing tricks on him . He calls his mom and she explains he didn’t kill him holt was unwell so they sent him away . Holt took molly I so guessed that Cobain was talking to himself . Holt had issues and his parents sent him away after he tired to hurt Cobain. Cobain finds molly and holt and so do the police . This book was so crazy I loved it

Book Review: the wife between us Greer Hendricks

The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

November 16- December 30

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Read between the lies.

Review : This book was a mind fuck so this is told in two POV Nellie and vanessa Nellie is getting married to richard who seems like the perfect guy and vanessa is the ex wife of richard and Nellie is getting weird phone calls and she’s excited to be married to richard to start a life with him . I didn’t like richard from the moment we met him I knew there was something sketchy about him and he was a controlling asshole he doesn’t want Nellie to work why WTF . Vanessa is upset richard is getting married but not for the reasons you think cause Nellie and Vanessa they are the same person it’s told in the past and present and Vanessa wants to stop Richard from getting married cause he’s a abusive piece of shit who lies and spins truths so she came up with a plan to get Richard to leave her and he did but then she felt bad for the girl Emma so she plans to stop it so she gets in contact with Emma and first she doesn’t believe her but then she looks into it and does believe Vanessa . Vanessa shows up to meet up with Richard and Emma to stop this once and for all she confronts him and he tries to hurt her . See when Richard was a teenager he was in the car crash with his parents and that messed him up but that is still no excuse to be a abusive piece of shit Richard goes to a mental heath place to get some help and his sister is going to watch over him. So it turns out Emma also had a plan to so when Vanessa was in college she was dating her professor who turned out to be married and she didn’t know he was married and Emma was his daughter this book was so good so many twists .

Quotes :
I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.’ Well, I’ve never feared bad weather, either.

For years, I have allowed fear to dominate me. But as I sit in the cab, I realize another emotion is rising to the surface: anger. It felt cathartic to unleash my rage at Richard after absorbing his for so long.

Book Review: Jar of Hearts Jennifer Hillier

Jar of Hearts

Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oct 11-13

This is the story of three best friends: one who was murdered, one who went to prison, and one who’s been searching for the truth all these years . . .

When she was sixteen years old, Angela Wong—one of the most popular girls in school—disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever suspected that her best friend, Georgina Shaw, now an executive and rising star at her Seattle pharmaceutical company, was involved in any way. Certainly not Kaiser Brody, who was close with both girls back in high school.

But fourteen years later, Angela Wong’s remains are discovered in the woods near Geo’s childhood home. And Kaiser—now a detective with Seattle PD—finally learns the truth: Angela was a victim of Calvin James. The same Calvin James who murdered at least three other women.

To the authorities, Calvin is a serial killer. But to Geo, he’s something else entirely. Back in high school, Calvin was Geo’s first love. Turbulent and often volatile, their relationship bordered on obsession from the moment they met right up until the night Angela was killed.

For fourteen years, Geo knew what happened to Angela and told no one. For fourteen years, she carried the secret of Angela’s death until Geo was arrested and sent to prison.

While everyone thinks they finally know the truth, there are dark secrets buried deep. And what happened that fateful night is more complex and more chilling than anyone really knows. Now the obsessive past catches up with the deadly present when new bodies begin to turn up, killed in the exact same manner as Angela Wong.

How far will someone go to bury her secrets and hide her grief? How long can you get away with a lie? How long can you live with it

TRIGGER WARNING FOR RAPE

Book Review : This book was really good Geo is being sent to Jail for helping with the murder of her best friend and she goes to Jail her roommate raped her it was a rough scene to read but she meets this woman who takes care of the problem after time she goes through routine she is a hairdresser in Jail makes a friend named Kat . the second POV is Kai who is a cop but also a guy who has a thing for Geo and they went to high school together . Calvin escaped from Jail and Kai has been trying to get him since . five years have passed and Geo is getting out of Jail . Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them

Review : I really loved this book so this is about
Bronwyn , Addy , cooper and Nate who after one event are connected to each other . They all have detention and the school gossip of the school is also there but he ends up dying cause of a peanut allergy and they are all suspects cause Simon wrote a gossip blog and there secrets starts coming out . Bronwyn cheated on a test addy cheated on her boyfriend who is a dick by the way cooper is gay and Nate sells drugs . Bronwyn and Nate start getting close but then Nate gets sent to jail and bronwyn helps Nate prove his innocence. Cause Simon wanted to die so he planned to make it look like murder when it was actually suicide and Jake addy’s ex boyfriend helped and actually tried to kill addy but cooper helped and Jake got sent to jail . Really enjoyed this book.

Quote
“She’s a princess and you’re a jock,” he says. He thrusts his chin toward Bronwyn, then at Nate. “And you’re a brain. And you’re a criminal. You’re all walking teen-movie stereotypes.”

Book Review: The couple next door Shari Lapeno

The Couple Next Door

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

June 25-27

It all started at a dinner party. . .

A domestic suspense debut about a young couple and their apparently friendly neighbors–a twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .

Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all–a loving relationship, a wonderful home, and their beautiful baby, Cora. But one night when they are at a dinner party next door, a terrible crime is committed. Suspicion immediately focuses on the parents. But the truth is a much more complicated story.

Inside the curtained house, an unsettling account of what actually happened unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something. Both Anne and Marco soon discover that the other is keeping secrets, secrets they’ve kept for years.

What follows is the nerve-racking unraveling of a family–a chilling tale of deception, duplicity, and unfaithfulness that will keep you breathless until the final shocking twist.

Review : This book was crazy these people are kinda fucked up . Anne and Marco left there baby at home alone and when they come back the door is open and the baby isn’t there . Anne calls the cops and the detective is trying to find out what’s going on . Anne has postpartum depression and the detective thinks Anne and Marco might of killed her . The detective asks why they left the baby alone and they explain the neighbor didn’t want the baby there . I hated Cynthia she complained Anne wasn’t fun because she had a baby like what the fuck . So apparently Marco’s business wasn’t doing well and he went to Anne’s father for a loan and he said no so when drinking one night a guy comes up to Marco and they talk about doing a fake kidnapping so he kidnapped his own daughter mostly WTF but then the guy shows up dead . Anne’s father was actually involved cause he wanted to leave his wife but he knew he had no money so he was arrested . Anne gets Cora back . Anne goes next door to talk to Cynthia she was having an affair with her father and Cynthia says the baby should of died and Anne freaking kills her but doesn’t remember that how it ends WTF .
