Book Review: the unfinished life of Addison stone Adele Griffin

The Unfinished Life of Addison StoneThe Unfinished Life of Addison Stone by Adele Griffin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

October 29 – November 2

Summary – From the moment she stepped foot in NYC, Addison Stone’s subversive street art made her someone to watch, and her violent drowning left her fans and critics craving to know more. I conducted interviews with those who knew her best—including close friends, family, teachers, mentors, art dealers, boyfriends, and critics—and retraced the tumultuous path of Addison’s life. I hope I can shed new light on what really happened the night of July 28.

—Adele Griffin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

August 4- october 10

Summary –
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets–and human lives.”
In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch–a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood–or else she might be next.

review- This book was awesome Sydney was a badass witch and I was screaming at her at some points with adrian like you like him he likes you now be together so in this book there is a witch that is sucking life out of other witches and it’s mrs . terwilliger’s sister this isn’t good and then sydney has to go to a wedding Sonya’s in fact I’m so happy that sonya got married oh and rose was there good to her in guardian action . so Adrian is trying to convince sydney that she loves him and I know she does and she’s looking for marcus and she finds him and he keeps telling her that she needs to break the tattoo and she doesn’t want to . Her and Adrian are trying to warn other girls about the soul sucking witch and they go to the bed and breakfast where mrs. terwilliger’s sister is staying which I thought was idiotic I mean she could be there and suck her soul out and she keeps going into Sydney’s dreams . sydney and adrian raise a dragon that scene was so funny and it turns out that the first people that the dragon see’s and it was sydney and adrian there dragon parents hahaha . she had to seduce ian and get her snuck in and she uses a invisible spell she hits a fire ball at the computer . She finds out the alchemist have been working with the warriors of the light I knew it all a long she breaks the tattoo and in her dream with adrian she shows him the dress and they start making out and oh my god and then she wakes up and she know it was a mistake oh and jill saw it all . sydney car blows up and her necklace was inside and it burt her oh the girl at the bed and breakfast she has been soul sucking she even hurt veronica sydney attacks her sets her teachers house on fire and then we find out angeline and tray have been hooking up what a witch I kind of guessed that though . she decides to go to mexico but on last minute she decides not to go oh and she goes to adrian and awww it’s so sweet oh and then zoe shows up this ought to be good ,this one was my favorite so far.

favorite quotes-

Let me get this straight . The future of our relationship hinged on advice from a fifteen-year old girl , a probally untrue story from a one – eyed chihuahua trainer , and me unromantically – yet skillfully – kissing you on top of silver-ware and china ? yep , I said . page 395

“Whatever happened to the dragon?”

I mustered my primmest tone. “He has a name, you know.”

Adrian pulled back and gave me a curious look. “I didn’t know, actually. What’d you decide on?”

“Hopper.” When Adrian laughed, I added, “Best rabbit ever. He’d be proud to know his name is being passed on.”
“Yes, I’m sure he would. Did you name the Mustang too?”
“I think you mean the Ivashkinator.”

He stared at me in wonder. “I told you I loved you, right?
“Yes,” I assured him. “Many times.”

“I sent a quick text to Adrian: I have a hickey! You can’t ever kiss me again. I honestly hadn’t expected him to be awake this early, so I was surprised to get a response: Okay. I won’t kiss you on your neck again.

So typical of him. No! You can’t ever kiss me ANYWHERE. You said you were going to keep your distance.

I’m trying, he wrote back. But you won’t keep your distance from me.

I didn’t dignify that with a response.”

You made me summon a dragon ! I exclaimed I most certainly did not , she responded Callistanas are a type of demon . I froze A demon well she amended . A very minor and generally benign kind . I didn’t reply for a while Sydney ? are you there ? you had me summon a demon , I replied , voice stiff . you know how I feel about evil and the supernatural . You spent all this time trying to convince me that the magic we do is all for some greater good in the battle against evil , and yet you made me summon a creature of hell. Creature of hell ? she snorted . Hardly . you know nothing about demons . I told you it’s benign , didn’t I ? callstatans can be very useful . they’ll warn you if dark magic is nearby and will even defend you if you’re attacked – not that they can do much damage . I wasn’t buying it . If they’re so useful , then why don’t you have one ? oh , well I’m at a level where I can sense dark magic on my own . That , and – if you’ll forgive my language – callistanas are a real pain in the ass. they make the most irritating noise when they’re hungry . Cats are more than adequate for my needs. page 280

Book Review: isla and the happily ever after Stephanie Perkins

Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss, #3)Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

read from August 20- September 8

Summary -Love ignites in the City That Never Sleeps, but can it last?

Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

Featuring cameos from fan-favorites Anna, Étienne, Lola, and Cricket, this sweet and sexy story of true love—set against the stunning backdrops of New York City, Paris, and Barcelona—is a swoonworthy conclusion to Stephanie Perkins’s beloved series.

Review- isla is at kismet when she sees her crush from school Josh she’s kind of high on meds from getting her wisdom teeth out and Josh and isla talk and he draws her and then she wants to see him again but he wasn’t at kismet they go back to school and she sees josh again they start talking and hanging out and then josh says to isla she likes him and then they start dating it’s so cute there date and then they decide to go to Barcelona Josh says it would be fine they go they have a great time they go to the hotel and have sex it was beautiful and then it goes bad they get caught josh gets expelled isla is mad a kurt and hattie cause Kurt told hattie and nate overheard Josh heads back to NYC and Isla is in france she is applying to dartmath and Josh is planing on going to this cartoonist school then allot of things go bad it’s hard for them to talk his father is up for reelection and around then isla gets a package it’s his graphic novel and isla isn’t a fan cause well his ex girlfriend is there allot but she’s there at the end and she tells josh this and it isn’t very nice and they g et in a stupid fight and isla picks at that josh doesn’t really love her and Josh keeps calling and calling and when isla finally realizes josh does love her it’s to late . Until when she gets back to school and she makes up with Hattie and gives her the treehouse and Hattie tells her that she mailed the signed book isla got josh and then josh calls her he’s in france he wants isla to meet his friends . Anna st. clair lola cricket and even Meredith is there and then something big happens St.clair propses to Anna OH MY GOD it was so cute . Josh walks isla home and gives her the graphic novel again but it’s different this time and she finishes it and she runs to him so cute they spend two weeks together . then it’s june and there back at kismet and josh is finished with the book and they on the happily ever after I loved it isla is going to darthmath and there going to be together I loved there story and it was nice to see my other favorites also.

Favorite quotes – does this…does this mean you want to be my boyfriend?” My question sounds both immature and momentous. But Josh doesn’t flinch.
“Yes,” he says. “I want.”

“We’re enveloped in pitch black. “Wait here,” I whisper.
“Are you getting your ax?”
“Handcuffs.”
“Kinky. But, okay, I’ll try it.”

“Several yards away – closer to the cathedral’s legendary carved doorways – Anna and St. Clair are standing on top of Point Zéro. It’s been hand-brushed clear of its dusting of snow. Point Zéro is the bronze marker, a star, which designates the official centre of France. There are at least two superstitions about it. One is that anyone who stands on the star will return to France. The other is that you can use it to make a wish.
“Wait for it,” Josh says.

Lola stands straighter, excited. “No!”

“Yes,” Cricket says.

I’m the last one in the dark, until – suddenly – it happens. St. Clair removes something from his pocket. And then he gets down on one knee.

Anna’s entire body lights with shock and joy and love. She nods a vigorous yes. St. Clair places the ring on her finger. He stands, she throws her arms around him, and they kiss. He spins her in a circle. They kiss again. Deep, hungry, long. And then he turns to us and waves – with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen – clearly aware that we’ve been standing here the whole time.”

In This One Summer two stellar creators redefine the teen graphic novel. Cousins Mariko and Jillian Tamaki, the team behind Skim, have collaborated on this gorgeous, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful story about a girl on the cusp of her teen age—a story of renewal and revelation.

Book Review: if i stay Gayle forman

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)If I Stay by Gayle Forman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

August 13-23

Summary -The critically acclaimed, bestselling novel from Gayle Forman, author of Where She Went, Just One Day, and the forthcoming Just One Year.

On a day that started like any other, Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she’ll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.

Review – I wanted to read If i stay before the movie came out it has officially came out I haven’t seen it yet though I’m seeing it today I can’t wait . If I stay is about Mia she is a cello player and on her way to being at juliard in new york and leaving her rocker boyfriend Adam one day Mia and her family are driving and it’s snowing like really bad and they get into a car crash her entire family dies but she’s kind of floating over her body like she is a ghost but not really what I loved about this book was the writing it was beautifully written this book is taken place in 24 hours so instead of chapters there is time . I love the Flashbacks like Adam and Mia’s first date it was so cute Adam and Mia share the love of music and I love that . Mia’s family are kind of rockers to Mia’s dad was in a band with there family friend Henry and I love Henry’s wife Willow she’s awesome she’s a nurse and she totally takes charge in getting Adam into see Mia . Mia fallows her body back to the hospital and through this she goes through surgery and sapose to be fine if she can breathe on her own . Now when Adam hears about Mia he has to get in to see her and Kim and Adam almost get arrested if it weren’t for Willow , Adam and Kim get this rocker girl to come and cause a ruckus and that mean nurse gets them out and then Willow steps in and Adam talks to Mia and then he leaves he says he’s going to come back . Kim talks to Mia and tells her even though her family has died she still has a family which was sweet and I started crying I love there friendship . Adam comes back and he tells her he wants her to stay and if she needed him to go he would then she’s back she squeezes his hand and she’s back I loved this book so much I cried I swooned at the romance it was very good .

Favorite quotes –

“If I stay. If I live. It’s up to me.
All this business about medically induced comas is just doctor talk. It’s not up to the doctors. It’s not up to the absentee angels. It’s not even up to God who, if He exists, is nowhere around right now. It’s up to me.”

“How am I supposed to decide this? How can I possibly stay without mom and dad? How can I leave without Teddy? Or Adam? This is too much. I don’t even understand how it all works, why I’m here in the state that I’m in or how to get out of it if I wanted to. If I were to say, I want to wake up, would I wake up right now? I’ve already tried snapping my heels to find Teddy and tried to beam myself to Hawaii, and that didn’t work. This seems a whole lot more complicated.
But in spite of that, I believe it’s true. I hear the nurse’s words again. I am running the show. Everyone’s waiting on me.
I decide. I know this now.
And this terrifies me more than anything else that has happened today.”

“But the you who you are tonight is the same you I was in love with yesterday, the same you I’ll be in love with tomorrow.”

I’m not sure this is a world I belong in anymore. I’m not sure that I want to wake up.

“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I’d do it. I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.”

Book Review: Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban jk Rowling

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3)Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

may 26 – July 29

Summarry -For most children, summer vacation is something to look forward to. But not for our 13-year-old hero, who’s forced to spend his summers with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who detest him. The third book in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series catapults into action when the young wizard “accidentally” causes the Dursleys’ dreadful visitor Aunt Marge to inflate like a monstrous balloon and drift up to the ceiling. Fearing punishment from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon (and from officials at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who strictly forbid students to cast spells in the nonmagic world of Muggles), Harry lunges out into the darkness with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig.
As it turns out, Harry isn’t punished at all for his errant wizardry. Instead he is mysteriously rescued from his Muggle neighborhood and whisked off in a triple-decker, violently purple bus to spend the remaining weeks of summer in a friendly inn called the Leaky Cauldron. What Harry has to face as he begins his third year at Hogwarts explains why the officials let him off easily. It seems that Sirius Black–an escaped convict from the prison of Azkaban–is on the loose. Not only that, but he’s after Harry Potter. But why? And why do the Dementors, the guards hired to protect him, chill Harry’s very heart when others are unaffected? Once again, Rowling has created a mystery that will have children and adults cheering, not to mention standing in line for her next book. Fortunately, there are four more in the work

Review- The third book in the harry potter series is my favorite so far i think I liked this one the best because things are starting to get good it all starts when we find out that someone is trying to kill Harry other the he who should not be named sirus black and he was harry’s father’s best friend and he’s his godfather and he murdered allot of people oh are there is a new defence of the dark arts teacher Remus Lupin I really liked him oh and there are these things called dementrors they suck the happieness right out of you they keep getting to Harry so the new teacher is trying to teach Harry because a dementor nocked harry off this broom in a quidich match . Fred and George give Harry the mauders map so he can sneak into hogsmead until one time he is cought . Buckbeak is onto being excuted very sad i hate that malfoy family and on that night they find scbbers he wasn’t ate by crookshakes but somethings is odd the dog is there and it’s dragging ron but it’s a trap sirus black is there oh and the rat is really peter petigrew oh and Lupin is a werewolf they hear the real story but it’s to late demortors and they wake up in the hospital Hermine tells harry how she is been getting to all those classes the timeturner and the save croofshakes and sirus black awesome read .

July 17- 24

Summary -The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence…and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Review- This is the prequel to Obsidian in dawson’s point of view when he meets bethany . I loved this novella Bethany is new and town and Dawson notices her right of way he feels different he’s never felt that way about a human so they start talking and finally go on a date and then one day when they are kissing he lights up and has to explain he’s an alien that’s awkward and she still likes him Sexy alien Haha I loved the family in this Dawson Daemon and Dee I loved how protective of each other they were and there were allot of funny parts when Bethany almost dies and Dawson has to heal her and her glow doesn’t go away the arum show right up and they are in big danger the end made me sad and angry I still don’t like those DOD there the bad guys here along with the arum and the DOD show up at there house and tell Dee and Daemon that Bethany and Dawson died oh god I loved this series so much .

Favorite quotes –
“You’re brother is all excitable this morning,” Daemon said. “For school. There’s something inherently wrong with that.”
Dawson smirked. “There’s something inherently wrong with the fact that Dee and I have to stand here and talk to you while you’re in your boxers.”

I love you, Dawson. I love who you are, what you are. And I don’t think love recognizes differences. It just is. And we really aren’t that different

Ash twisted toward Daemon, her cheeks flushed. “I can’t believe you’re allowing him to do this. Next thing we know, you’ll be dating a human.”
Daemon busted out laughing. “Yeah, not going to happen.”

When Ethan becomes an overnight sensation, he’s thrown head-first into the glam world of celebrity-and so is Sterling. Before she knows it, she’s attending red-carpet premieres, getting free designer clothes, and flying around the country to attend Ethan’s monumental sold-out concerts.

It’s a dream come true…but whose dream is Sterling living? And what do you do when “forever” comes to an end?

Book Review: the Golden lily Richelle mead

The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2)The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

read from may 30- june 18

Summary -Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she’s supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she’s been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

Review – the second book in the bloodlines series was amazing I think I liked this one better than the first one so this one is about Sydney of course and when we first see her she is with the alchemist talking about keith and after that she is shown a human who wants to be a strogi and was he crazy when she gets back to palm springs sonya demitri are still doing research oh and sonya was attacked with a sward and sydney was there to . Trey sets sydney up with his friend Braden who probably is the most doshest character i’ve ever read I’m screaming at sydney this guy is rude he thinks he is better than you my favorite part was the end with them I loved adrain’s encounter with Braden my favorite was the halloween scene so your saying my “sister ” looks like a Prostitute and he said yes wtf Branden is wrong with you I loved when Adrian got his car and sydney was just in aw of it she really loves her cars. Spirt is having a weird effect on Adrian and Jill feels it oh and Angeline oh my god she is litterly always groping eddie I do have to say I thought it was kind of funny when she punched that inspiration speaker . So we find out there are there hunters who want to kill strogi which is cool but they think sonya is still a strgoi and that she’s hiding it and we find out trey is involved like wtf and she’s been taken so sydney goes and trey and his cousin are fighting to see who gets to kill her litterly not kidding and as these people are speaking I’m thinking I’ve read parts with strogi and you would be dead it two seconds flat so these people are stupid so the gang gets to sydney and they get the hell out of there they put a tracking device in Sydney’s purse . So Braden dumps sydney he tells her that she is irresponsible what the hell is with this guy and then she burst out laughing I found it funny myself and then she goes sees adrian and he KISSES HER YESSS and then she gets mad oh sydney i loved this good can’t wait to see what happens in indigo spell I plan to catch on the this series before the newest one comes out .

favorite quotes –

You’re wearing that?”… “This is the kind of shirt that says, ‘You’re never getting in here.’”
“Well, why would he?” I demanded.
…”I think it’s more like a shirt that says, ‘I’m going to have to end this date early so I can go prepare by Power Point presentation.

“Okay. But I’m just going to be out there – having a tea party with her cats or whatever it is she has in mind. You need me? You yell. You want to leave? We go. I’ll get you out of here, no matter what.

You are the most beautiful creature I have ever seen walking this earth. You have no clue of how beautiful you are or how brightly you shine.”

“Jill was tall and slim, like most Moroi. With that figure came a modest chest. Angeline’s chest…was not so modest.”

Really, Sage? A date?”
I sighed. “Yes, Adrian. A date.”
A real date. Not, like, doing homework together,” he added. “I mean like where you go out to a movie or something. And a movie that’s not part of a school assignment. Or about something boring.”
“A real date.” I figured I wouldn’t give him the specifics on the Shakespheare play.
“What’s the lucky guy’s name?”
“Brayden.”
There was a pause. “Brayden? That his real name?”
“Why are you asking if everything’s real? You think I’d make any of this up?”
“No, no,” Adrian assured me. “That what’s so ynbelievable about it. Is he cute?”
I glanced at the clock. It was time for me to meet my study group. “Gee, maybe I should just send you a picture to review?”
“Yes, please. And a full background check and life history.”
“I have to go. Why do you care so much anyway?” I finally asked in exasperation.
His answer took a long time, which was uncharacteristic.

Historically inaccurate.’ Adrian gestured at me with his other hand, the one not on my shoulder. “Who the hell looks at you and says ‘historically inaccurate’?”
